Teenagers or not, they knew the consequences. I hope they rot in Hell.

Didn't know the guy who paid for it ,lied to their parents said they were going to France and ended up in prison for drug smuggling !!! Didn't know that Ghana was a holiday destination for teenagers , thought they went to Spain etc . Time will reveal the truth as it was a combined operation with Ghana and HM Customs .
Ah, I see.
Well I think "rot in hell" is a bit harsh but a prison sentense in Ghana is about right.
Kids of 16 don't have the same view of the world that adults do and don't always make good decisions - letting some drugs trafficker talk you into being a mule is definately a bad one.
So what age does your "rot in hell" verdict start at then?
A 14 year old talked into packing a "parcel" for a family friend on a foreign holiday?
12?
What age do you have to be to earn your ticket to Hades?

Yes but we don't send children to prison at 10 do we?
Children have a notion of criminal responsibility at that age but they're not totally responsible - not enough to make decisions about drinking, smoking, their sexuality, joining the army etc. etc.
I'm sure it's lovely to sit in judgement of the world and see things in terms of black and white, criminals and non-criminals and use phrases like "rot in hell" but back in the real world there are people who have to sift through all this sort of stuff and come out with punishments that are proportional and take into account all those irritating details like age and mental competancy, the severity of the crime.
That's one of the things that seperates justice from a lynch mob, an element of proportionality.

But it can be simplified.
I knew right from wrong at ten years old. Simple as that. If the kids are mental there are provisions in law that account for that, re they knew the quality of their act.
All because I come from a, lets say, stable family, and have a modicum of intellect should not deter from the fact that the criminal element does exist at 10 years old.
If we start saying "Oh they come from a poor home" They are "fatherless" etc, then we will create a class distinction.
Now the social working left wing pro-taliban brigade of British leftism, want equality.
Surely as I and my entire friend network at ten years old knew right from wrong, we must as a nation clamp down on ten year old felons.
The law has been set as such, not on a whim but after countless evidence from the police, head teacher, social workers, psychologists etc.
As these girls were 16, far surpassing 10 years, they are as good as adults.
Let's hope African gaols are full of poo and c0ckroaches.

What amused (?) me about the story as reported on Radio 4 this morning is that they were told that the cases were empty. So, here you go girls, please could you carry these empty cases to Ghana for me ? Yes ok of course, sounds like a reasonable request.
Minter, why can't you ask non-controversial questions like what is your favourite colour flower.

I don't think they should go to prison for ten years. For crying out loud they are still children, who knows how they got roped into doing this.
At 10 years old you might have been lured into doing something wrong in exchange for something. 3000 and a holiday to Ghana probably seemed amazing to them and all they had to do was bring a bit of coke back.
Whoever put them up for this should well be the one to rot in hell.

Is it because the drugs that they were transporting are illegal that you wish to send them to some mythical land?
Are you so law abiding that anyone who transgresses the law should be sent to hell. Does this include people who break the speed limit in their cars.?
So if this was entrepenureal 16 yr old selling tobacco or alcohol you would be ok with it ( I believe you are anti smoking but you do consider alcohol to be acceptable)
Or is it that you consider that if someone deals in drugs that cause health problems are the spawn of Satan? How does your world view incorporate alcohol and prescribed medication and those who deal and traffick in this trade, such as Guiness or Glaxo?
Or is it that you consider that anyone who makes a profit out of the misery of others who is not a legal multinational corporation or a government are deserving of the fires or hell?

if these girls didnt know anything was wrong then why tell a pack of lies and what did they suppose the 3000 each was for i wonder.
one thing though, and i dont know how true this is,i heard that the ghana authorities were working alongside the uk authorities on an anti drugs operation, why then didnt they let these girls bring the stuff to the uk and then follow them to the mr big?all theyve got now are 2 daft girls when they could have had someone higher up the ladder plus the 2 daft girls.
throw away the key i say
