what do others think ?
It really makes my blood boil to read yet another "millionaire" is funding the McCanns! Why are they so special in terms of being parents of missing children? What about all the other missing children? Why do they deserve everyones pity when others are long forgotten? What about the 1m in the Madeleine fund that they "wont" or "cant" use? Is that in a high interest rate account somewhere earning lots of interest to be creamed off? They both have jobs Why don't they go back to work and earn some money like all the others
have to? It's never about Madeleine - its always all about THEM! OK Rant over - just wondered what others thought!

Well maybe but this once again is a criticism of them leaving those children alone, it is sad but who else can be blamed?
I can only assume Goodsoulette that you are female, perhaps that is why you would have no hesitation approaching a lost child. Being a male, it is entirely a different matter to many Mothers every male is a potential pedo.
I still maintain that nowadays one should be responsible enough not to loose a child, an wrist restrain is a must.
You also chose not to comment on the kiddies left in the car, why?

Hold on ! Surely if they kept quiet then there would be nothing to prevent the Portuguese Police, etc. from spouting the most outrageous theories or abandoning the search (! hah!) and leaving their fingers pointing firmly at the McCanns.
It's like over here when there has been a high-profile court case collapse and the police always inform us that 'we are not looking for anyone else in this enquiry'. How the hell can you get any action taken, then ?
If the McCanns humbly accepted the accusations being thrown at them with no argument then all of the sceptics over here would be nodding and saying 'Ah ! If that was me I would be fighting tooth and nail to clear my name. ' They can't win. I know that if my picture had been published all over the world with the word 'murderess' slapped all over it I would certainly want to have my chance to repudiate the accusation ! Wouldn't you ?
The investigative part of this tragedy has been a farce, regardless of your opinions over the culpability of Maddy's parents. And had this been the sole thread I hope the McCanns would have been given the grace to highlight the search for Maddy. That the facts of the case have been muddied because the Portuguese police have seemingly gone for Procedure 1 in the Portuguese Police handbook - Blame the parents - makes the McCanns out to be guilty. They are guilty of stupidity, perhaps, but we'll never get to the bottom of it whilst speculation is allowed to spread unchecked and unanswered.

Boo/ jackthehat
I think the accusation, again from the unknown ' source', was that the police think she was accidently killed not murdered.
They did initially speak out maintaining their innocence and the occasional emphasis on that I would think would be sufficient. What has followed from Clarence Mitchell has been (for the third time) unbelievable theories, witnesses changing their stories and lies. I don't think it does their case any good whatsoever. It has begun to change my viewpoint.

That's obviously your prerogative Chompu, I'm not trying to change your or any one else's mind over this. I'm just stating that I find the whole 'finger pointing' at the Mccanns repulsive and the holier than thou attitude of people who claim that they've never made any error of judgements where their own children are concerned bloody laughable.
The Mccanns as far as I'm concerned are only guilty of believing their children were safe whilst they enjoyed a meal together. Do I think they were right to do that? No of course I don't but I'll say it again, they have to live with what they did for the rest of their lives, I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.

No not hang you boo but to criticise you on your lack of parental skills. I will repeat again it is not unknown for a car to set fire. Rare one may say, but it does happen are you prepared to take that risk with mini Boo?
What is wrong with taking the child to the trolley park in the trolley and then carrying the child back in your arms, too much effort perhaps?
Regarding "who else is to blame" I was refering to "in the first instant" not to subsequent events, that may have happened due to the first instance.

Well in all fairness AOG, I can't say I've ever heard of a car suddenly setting on fire. Had I known that then no, I wouldn't have done it and I obviously won't in the future. How you can say lack of knowledge is poor parenting skills is beyond me!
I'm also equally certain that the Mccanns didn't in their wildest dreams imagine that anything untoward would happen to one of their children. It's the risk they took and one the entire family are suffering for, not just Madeleine.

Perhaps AOG could write a book on parenting skills, B00 ?
He obviously has boundless knowledge of what is/ is not, acceptable behaviour and can dispense advice appropriate for every occasion.
He can identify the possible implications of any of your actions at any given time in advance, and can provide firm, empirical evidence to back up each and every one of his outlandish claims, it would appear..........
Wish he was my Dad....................:o)

Why only nowadays AOG> Are you suggesting there are more people on the prowl to snatch your kid.
My mind is always filled with what ifs, mainly fire, drowning and getting knocked over. Abduction is the last of worried on my list as a parent.
I lost my eldest in my garden when he was about 14 months. I was out of my mind with worry for the whole minute it took me to find him (behind the shed). I have now told him if he gets lost, he can approach people who work at the shop, a policeman or security guard or a woman. My youngest is a right proper nightmare, he can jump out of a buggy in 30 seconds whilst its moving. I tend t walk him up town but the wrist restraints are an absolute possibilty. I rely on my disciplinary tone to my voice. I am not naive enough to think that I couldn't lose him under any circumstances. I don't recall anyway getting all sanctimonious about Jamie Bulger's mother.

As humourous (?) relief from this..................a friend of mine took her grandson to the local outdoor market. He was wearing a wrist restraint and she kept a firm grip on her end.
After having made her purchases and on leaving the veg stall she was accosted by a rather red-faced lady demanding to know what was going on..........
My friend then looked down the wrist lead and was surprised to see at the end of it was a completely unknown little boy. Her grandson, tired of the wrist-restraint had asked the little stranger if he 'wanted a go' and had then fastened him into the restraint. He was off looking at a stall selling toys............he was 3 and a half !!

I get annoyed with all the "friends of the McCanns" being quoted all the time. Friends of the McCanns say they are innocent etc. They are suddenly all overnight experts in crime.
I do feel for all the other missing children and parents and feel very uncomfortable at all the publicity that one lost child gets in comparison to the daily tally of missing children. It doesn't sit right at all.

PS I have recently been prosecuted for an offence which generated publicity and I had several people wishing to donate and pay my fine etc. I refused all their kind offers, as it is my little pickle, not theirs and I would not feel comfotable taking money from someone.
I also want to ask why they need a million in their fund, why can't they distribute it to other families in need who have found themselves in the same situation? I feel that is very selfish.

I agree ! These 'Friends of the McCanns'..........pah ! what could they possibly know ? I too would far rather get MY information from people who have NO CHUFFING IDEA what the hell they are talking about. People who have absolutely nothing upon which to base their opinions other than the McCanns blindingly obvious guilt.......which is apparent every time they appear on the TV NOT crying or having hystrionics, or having the bare-faced cheek to answer their critics back using a third party seeing as they are NOT LEGALLY ALLOWED to comment themselves.....
As the money is not actually 'theirs' to distribute and the demands on it haven't even begun, yet, it would be a bit previous of them to start proffering it round...................and perhaps a little pointless if equally high-pricipled individuals such as yourself would turn it down, anyway.
As you must have the figures at your fingertips, just what IS the daily tally of missing children ? I would be deeply interested to know.

Yes, jackthehat, what could the mcCanns' friends know.
We know what Ruth Tanner knows. She saw a man carrying a child wrapped in a blanket at 9.15 but didn't think to mention it until TWENTY FOUR hours later.
But wait, no 4 months later, she realises she made a mistake, the child wasn't wrapped in a blanket but wearing pink pyjamas. Ruth has obviously been Mitchellfied.

Obviously...........and I suppose Ruth told you that when the two of you spoke, did she ?
I had heard of the 'child in pyjamas' story ages ago...............it's just being recycled and respun now....................and the fact remains that it shouldn't matter a t0ss what we are being told.........what ought to matter is what the Portuguese Police etc. have made it their business to discover.
We are being drip-fed details that make the poor McCanns look bad and so far there doesn't seem to have been a single shred of proof that they had anything to do with the abduction !
