Emigration
So the latest statistics announced today that around 590,000 people immigrated to the UK last year.
I wonder how many of these were actually qualified in one profession or another to benefit the Country?
Also in the light of the Government's admission that it had no idea how many illegal immigrants had arrived, can we actually believe this figure?
And 400,000 Brits left the UK in the same year........um......I wonder why ? (not)
Would you leave if you had the option and means to go ?

We had enough of the government side stepping immigration problems, allowing foreign convicted criminals back into the community instead of sending them home - the list goes on. We were offered an opportunity to move to New Zealand and its the best thing we ever did. At least immigration here is not the joke it is back home.
If the government are saying 590,000 then God only know the real figure. But I expect most the those declared figures were from people from eastern european countries now eligible to live and work in the UK.

The official government figures are nonsense. The real figure is nearer 15million!
Out of that 15million, 14million are convicted paedophiles and the rest, whilst technically innocent of any crime are 'dodgy'. You can tell this by the fact that they have thick eyebrows and they talk with a funny accent.
Also, I hear that ALL foriegners have loads of kids so they can claim extra on social security. But here's the real kicker...they sometimes eat their young as a cheap alternative to turkey at Christmas.
Not that we'll be able to celebrate Christmas soon, now that this loony PC government is banning our sacred festival...
<and so on, and so forth>

Interesting question.
When you say 'the option and the means' do you mean 'the get-up-and-go'?
You'd be surprised how affordable it is. And more often than not when people say they don't have the option because of work, kids being in school, or needy relatives, these are just excuses to hide the fact that they don't really want to go. They like it here.
Of course they do.

Oh, and just so you know, the device of saying a statement you disagree with and then adding the word 'not', as in:
"I wonder why ? (not)"
...is now two decades out of date. It was most famously used in Wayne's World when it was a sketch on Saturday Night Live in 1987. And it was past its sell-by date even then.
But it's still a funny thing to say. Not.

Although I was being over-sarky in my earlier post, I could quiet easily see myself buying a place in Spain for my retirement but I definitely couldn't see myself living there permanently.
Maybe through the winter (coming back from Christmas of course), but I honestly can't think of any other country where I'd rather live.
Sydney (specifically the area around Bondi) comes close and so does Boston...but on the whole, Britain rocks.
Also, Mars Bars taste funny abroad.
True.

Sweep2k - the Spice Girls are also two decades out of date - so what? and "2k"......well that's 7 years ago so I'm in good company.
jno......at least speaking one of the official languages is better than not being able to speak even one as in the UK isn't it?
Interesting answers thank you. Just as a matter of interest what do people "love" about the UK compared to other Countries?

How can these leffties say they love this country?
Yes perhaps they do now but this country is changing year by year, and not for the better I'm afraid.
You may feel prosperous and satified now, but wait until your very livelihoods are being threatened by foreign workers who are prepared to do your jobs for much less than you are being paid now.
Wait until you will have to pay for your health care, because so many will be putting a strain on our Health Service, that they will have to make it means tested.
Wait till your children leave school with a much more inferior education, because they will have to share classes with many, many children who's first language is not English.
Perhaps then and only then you will say "****** this I'm off" but by then my friends it will be too late.

Yes, that is what the typical 'leftie' does on their holiday go boozing in Benidorm.
It's a shame that people are still that naive that they think the grass is greener on the other side of the fence.
Home is what YOU make it.
I go back to what I have said on many previous posts - if you don't like something, try and change it.
If you don't like the way kids are brought up, go into schools and help out. If you don't like the way the council is run, stand to be a councillor. If you don't think the police do a good job, become a special.
Or sit at home and moan - much easier and more fulfilling.
