Teddy Bear Mohammed
So the lady is going to be charged in the Sudan.
Never, EVER, EVER again will I contribute even a sou if I think any of it will end up in a half-witted backward black savage Muslim country.
I did wonder if there would be demonstrations on the streets of Britain by moderate Muslims protesting against this supreme JOKE. No, there aren't any and there won't be.
I'll stick with my South American Christian charity for kids.

I always used to scoff at those who said that school leavers were less educated than their parents/grandparents, but I will have to raise my hand and say I was wrong.
There are so many people who scream that they should be allowed to speak their mind, and when they do, you realise that the only thing behind the door is an empty room.

My questions:
Why isn't the bear allowed to be called Mohammed, considering that the children chose it and many children have the same name?
Is this exclusive, or is it condsidered ok for Christians to call their toys Jesus (also a popular name for boys in Hispanic countries)?
Why was the teacher there in the first place? I have always felt a bit uncomfortable about people going over to other countries with different cultures/religion in order to 'help'. Shouldn't the teacher have stayed in this country and actually helped more?
I apologise if these questions have been answered. I feel torn between both sides here, as I think that although it seems a ridiculous situation, the woman is a bit of a twonk.

sp, we can't all be as balanced and inquiring as you.
Many many people just react pure and simple (which is what I did). Many people go into the ballot box and vote based on gut emotions which would be abhorrent to you. But they do, and will continue to.
This thread was a gut reaction. I did not sit back and analyse the pros and cons, I just reacted, and made it plain. Very fortunately it is still permitted in this country to do this.
You do really seem to be a little bitter inside.

To answer your question (If as this gentleman stated, it is commonplace for Islamic children to name their teddies Mohammed, why is this lady being persecuted?) I refer you to my previous answer:
In England we are a Christian nation but have no issue with bare breasted women on page 3 of the Sun or women showing their breasts on tv. Christian America went absolutely barmy when Janet Jackson showed her breast on tv.
To make it slightly clearer, just as there are many interpretation of Christianity, there are different interpretations of Islam.
Some Christians beleive it is okay for women to be accepted into the cloth - however a lot of Christians don't.
A Muslim from the middle east will probably be completely different from a Muslim in Sudan just as a Christian in this country may have different views to a Christian in America.

With regards to people going abroad to work in foreign cultures...well, 50% of NHS nurses were born abroad, and they seem to be doing okay.

Hard to explain, but as I was brought up as a Baptist I saw a fair few of the congregation disappear ~ some of them whole families ~ off into the Congo or somewhere else and never come back due to being butchered.
When you go into the teaching sector, be it religious or educationally, you can walk into the flames.

I was raised a Baptist, and growing up I saw several members of the congregation ~ sometimes whole families ~ disappear into the Congo etc and never come back due to being butchered. Since then I have always found it difficult to accept that people should go over to other countries with certain cultures and teach ~ whether it be in the religious or educational sense.

HOWEVER, listening to Victoria Derbyshire on 5 Live this morning, I heard that there was a teaching assistant in the room - if that is true it does throw a different light on the situation - as she should have known and intervened.

Again I'm yet to witness the anti war renta mouths saying how evil Britain is by prosecuting a war against islam e outor sa up on this matter. As Martin Luther King said "it is not where you stand in times of ease and plenty that matters but in times of challenge and controversy, in such times it is better to be a man of conviction than a man of convenience"
This whole thing has gone beyond ridiculous, the only person who must be happy about all this is George W Bush. Sudan="axis of evil" who'd argue with that now? When even the electorate are baying for the blood of a middle aged woman who named a teddy bear Mohammed? I despair of them I really do.
