I don't want to open another debate on this case but I am sure I heard on the news last night that the McCanns had accepted the opportunity to make a film. Was I dreaming?

Their spokesman Clarence Mitchell has been on Richard and Judy and has vehemently denied this -and Max Clifford (as a guest) has said that it was good that they have come out fighting -so to speak and he was to be commended for that. They have nipped it in the bud so to speak.

They have not ruled out a factual doc on missing children allowing Madeleines story to be included amongst others.

Thanks Drisgirl. I couldn't find any mention of it today and thought I had been imagining things as I only heard it on the TV whilst doing something else. I presumed it would be a factual documentary but the way it was reported on the BBC news actually made it sound as if they were going to 'star' in a film.
It was made out to be a film Lottie -you didnt imagine it -makes a better story just to twist it a bit -shame on them (the media that is).
I think i remember a film being mentioned yesterday. But whether it would be in the public interest is a different matter.

Just looked on line and in The Mirror 19/11/2007 it mentioned that the Mccans have a film maker friend, jon corner, but then again newspapers possibly have their own motives, at the risk of sounding totally cynical.
they seem to have backtracked on it (if they ever front-tracked on it, but their spokesman sort of suggested they were talking about it at least)
I just hoped I was dreaming when I first heard it...
I see no harm in making a documentary. I dont blame them for wanting to keep Madeleines face out there. The only hope of her being found, if she is still alive, is if someone spots her. Surely no one can begrudge them that? OK they were at worst selfishly negectful, or at best naively neglectful. My personal opinion is that they honestly (stupidly with hindsight) thought the children were safe. I dont think they deserve all the vile hatred that has been directed at them. I hope and pray that they get Madeleine back, but , deep down I think it is too late. I hope whoever took her rots in hell.
Chris Langham auditoning for the part of robert murat ?
Another thing I don't really understand, how is it considered in the public interest to report on the Mccann case, then considered a 'moral' outrage to make a film?

Isn't this exactly what the media have done?

I just wish the McCann's, their extended family and their spokespeople would quiety fade away into the background and let the police both here and in Portugal do their job. The media again have obviously blown this out of proportion but why give them the opportunity by giving them even the slightest snippet of information?

Thanks folk for your input., especially Ethel for the link.

(What on earth is going on on the site today, I keep getting logged off, weird messages keep coming up and it is taking an eternity to even look around the site?)
Max Clifford was on the radio early this morning & said that he thought the McCanns & co., would be making a big mistake even thinking about making a film/doc regarding their daughter's disappearnace - so there must have been an incy wincy bit of truth in it somewhere.....
*disappearance
If only the police in Portugal Had done their job!!!!!!
I can only re-iterate their spokesman has vehementally denied that they EVER thought of making a film about her disappearance.

Its the same old thing -dont believe everything you read in the papers -if its a dull story they will print what they want to sell copies.

Max Clifford was on tonight and give him his due he backtracked and admitted that until he heard Calerence Mitchell (obv a 'colleague') talkinh he was dubious -he now is absolutely certain it was hype.

How much whipping do this family need -everytime they are mentioned someone gets on their soapbox about them -well now its not about them ist about who took their wee girl.

My arent we such a pious lot -least I can look in the mirror and acknowlege my shortcomings.
Well said Drisgirl.
Cheers Persian xx
Gerry McCann confirmed on his own weblog that there had been talks with a production company about making a documentary on the couple.

The McCann's spokesman, Clarence Mitchell, said on Tuesday that there had been a meeting in December with the IMG film company. He said the McCanns themselves had not attended the meeting, which discussed the possibility of making their daughter's disappearance into either a film or a TV drama.

These are quotes from Gerry McCann and his 'adviser' Clarence Mitchell.

Why has their find Maddie fund decreased from 1.2 million to 560,000. There are a lot of people making a lot of money out of this. Including their spokesman too I expect who I listened to last night on James Whale. I feel for the poor families who have also lost their children and have nothing. I'm sick to death of the whole thing. What about all the other tots? They seem so selfish.
