Is this the thought police at work again?

Why on Earth should this woman have been sacked for this. She was merely expressing a personal preference that she didn't want an asian driver. Fair enough in my opinion, as she was paying (presumably) and the customer is always right. The BBC should be ashamed of themselves.

So now you're saying jokes are OK, because they are humorous. Doesn't matter if someone, somewhere MAY find it offensive, because it's a joke it isn't meant to cause offense.
That is the DOUBLE STANDARDS that Im was talking about.

Agree with the lady having a 'choice' as to who drives her young daughter, but its not racism.
There are special schools for asian girls & children as their faith leaders object to their children being educated in state schools. Uniforms et al are discriminated against by asians in state schools, etc. That is seen as choice and not racism.
Another case of the pc bending backwards to appease our asians, and our asians taking the opportunity to chastise the successful.

in this time of mixed cultures, integration etc.... one can only assume that the person in question is from a part of the country where so called ''FOREIGNERS'' are rare (unlikely in my oppinion) or maybe her parents, family, friends have taught her racist values (very likely in my oppinion) because with ignorance hate and lack of knowledge comes fear....
I do not have anything to say as many has already said all the possible things. Just keep on ignoring Geezer as you are doing so far as he is a known racist any way. If they (drivers) take you for goose chase then you should spend your time and energy fighting against that and against bad inspectors. However in London majority of the black cab drivers are white. few of them would take you from Regent street to Oxford street via Acton town. But that does not mean all of them are like that.
Two things are destroying this country as well as society more than any thing else. Abuse of freedom of speech and human rights.

You changed the subject to jokes. The point of the original question is whether this woman was expressing a personal preference.
Did you see my post pointing out the difference between merely expressing a personal preference and using preferences to (badly) disguise racist attitudes?
Okay...let's simply the whole question - is it acceptable to refuse to employ someone based on their religious or racial background?
Even if there is absolutely no reason to?
Is that personal prejudice or racism?
