They are like characters in a Billy Bunter story, all unaware that these were popular 80 years ago and dreadfully out of touch with modern Britain. (You can just imagine Bunter calling someone 'sooty' because of the colour of his skin.) And of course they'll claim that the people don't mind it at all, as if they'd go telling the Prince of Wales he's an offensive idiot.
They aren't the only ones:

but as our future leaders, they don't exactly set football crowds a good example.

thank you jno, that is the point of my question.the future king of england should not be calling people derogotary names,if one of my employees called 1 of my staff a nickname that i found offensive i would haul him/her over the coals in no uncertain terms.the point is that the royal family are stuck in a time warp.......
Sorry, I disagree JNO, I expect the Royals have friends like everyone else that they can relax with and be natural with.
The Royals are quite a human lot these days - they are allowed to be. The days are gone when people were in awe of them of guarded their words.
Perhaps not with the Queen though...............................

that's sort of what I mean, Lottie... I'm sure they relax with their friends. But do their friends truly relax with them? I gather Princess Margaret used to throw almighty snits if anyone - even 'friends' - dared leave a party before she did. I've no idea if Charles is quite that pompous, but I'm sure he's equally likely to cut you off his guest list if you cross him in any way.
