The story raises a couple of questions.

Why would it be a blow? Were they not a loving couple? Were they Satanists?

The problem with this story is that you have to be 100% against all gay adoption, or 100% for it.
You can't really say, "It's okay for gay men and lesbians to adopt, but only after all the straight couples have been assigned children".
If you're 100% against gay adoption, you can't really use the studies which say that a chiild is better served by a mother and father, because those studies compare mum & dad to single parent.
The Daily Mail is being a little naughty because there have so far been no studies into the affects of gay adoption because it's so very, very, very rare.
