With gun crime doubling in a decade, and we now have a team of the Met's elite firearms unit, who will walk the beat armed with semi-automatic pistols and sub-machine guns in gun crime hot spots in London where armed gangs have turned estates into "no-go zones".
What will happen if and when some youngster is shot?
Will there be claims of the police overacting, the officer suspended from duty pending a internal inquiry, or even claims that the gun toting youngster has had his human rights violated in some way etc, etc?
Taking this into account will any officer dare to use his weapon?
This being the case what is the real answer, in the quest to reduce this gang and gun crime culture?
