I'm extremely happy how our four young children have been educated since we moved down here from the London/Surrey area a few years ago,.........so pleased with the Sussex Education Authority..........it all boils down to good and caring parenting, good and bad children, good quality teaching or not, as the same for different types of schools.........so all those elements make up what is the education of today.

The way to tighten things up is to go back to the short sharp shock treatment. Forget the PC nonsense. Let teachers teach and enable them to punish unruly pupils by proper punishment. This should be without fear that their careers will be ruined because (for example) they grabbed a pupil by the arm to take them to the headteacher and the half a brain cell parents take the teacher to court.
