All your basic rights are being removed as 'not important' in today's world. And it seems folk are happy to see it happen.

Here is a case of no dignity nor respect for the individual, in the hunt for appearing to be trying for perfect safety. The fact that it isn't going to stop any determined terrorist seems to have passed the authorities by.

These women did have a choice and they chose to exercise that choice.

They chose not to fly.
Mibs, yes indeed. I was very tempted to make the same point - and you're right, so I won't hold my breath. Thank you for that.

Old Geezer, //It reads to me that Mani was just putting his feelings in such a way that their point could not be missed.//

The real point of Mani's post can only be missed by those who don't know him or his history. Nevertheless, since you clearly deem his rudeness to be acceptable I can only conclude that you are as ignorant and as ill-mannered as he is.
When did AB become so pompously humourless?
Quinlad, what's funny?
You, sir, have offended my honour and besmirched my good name. I demand satisfaction.
Quinlad, You don't know the history here and until you do you'd be well advised to engage your brain before you make even more of a fool of yourself. I've said it before, but I'll say it again - you're an idiot.
*splutters pompously*

I demand an apology!!
I don't have any information on folk's history here, I just help where I can, and point out the obvious where it seems to need pointing out.

Since I don't see any evidence of Mani being rude here I can not possibly be finding his rudeness acceptable.

However what is very rude is to conclude that I, or anyone else, is ignorant without cause, and to claim I am ill mannered. I defy anyone to show any point at which there is evidence of this.

Feel free to print an apology in your own time. I won't hold my breath.
//women of your ilk may be used to strangers seeing their intimate areas but I assure you I am not!! //

If you don't find that rude, Old Geezer, and feel it warrants your support, then I question your standards.
To me it reads as if he's suggesting Naomi's a bit of a....you know what. (insulting)
interesting video, AnswerPrancer. Not so much because of the content, more because the security industry insist such scans are totally private. So I wonder how this one got on YouTube? And I wonder at the eagerness of some posters to believe everything the security industry tells them.
It would appear that the main objection to airport body scanners is exposing one's genitals to "other people"

Does one assume that "other people" may not know what genitals look like?

Have I missed the point?.............again.
They don't know what mine look like, Sqad.
jno...LOL
On top of calling me ignorant and ill mannered you now question my standards ? Digging deeper & deeper eh ?

If you claim to support showing your intimate areas to those with scanners then it can't be rude to suggest you *may* be used to it. It follows naturally, and points out what the disagreement is in no uncertain terms.

Yes Sqad, you do seem to be suggesting you have missed the point. It is about having no choice as to whether one's own genitals are shown not a general point as to whether folk now what genitals look like, but my suspicion is that you knew that.

If folk do not have this right then why does society prosecute "peeping Toms" ? Maybe the suggestion is that anyone should be able to demand another exposes themselves whether they like it or not ? Perhaps I'll go down to the Typing Pool later and try it.
Scanners are to allay terrorism, how can that be invasive?
-- answer removed --
that wasn't intende as a LOL, Sqad. Yes, I know what 'genitals' look like. No, I don't know what naomi's look like. Should I be allowed to find out, on the grounds that it will prevent international terrorism? Or is she in fact entitled to such immeasurable things as privacy and modesty?
Next you'll be saying we can't scan unborn babies.
From now on I'm going be wearing a 12" strap-on magic wand and secreting a couple of grapefruit down my trousers when going through airport security.
In other words, business as usual.
