Seeing that he has not been found guilty yet of the charges against him, I thought it unfair to comment on these.

What I would wish to comment on, is the fact that he entered and won the Mr Gay UK title.

Why as a serving police officer was he was allowed to enter such a contest, has to be questioned, especially when it was reported, he appeared in a police-style outfit, including a stab-proof vest.

He said "I thought telling people I was gay would mean no one would want to know me, but at the Mr Gay UK final I had more people supporting me than I’ve ever had in my life".

Er, could that be that all those at the Mr Gay final, were also gay?

/// Earlier he was reported to have said his main reason for entering the contest was to “change the public perception of the stereotypical gay man”.///

Now how did he expect their perception would change?

Golly, is it really such a big deal ?
I'm not saying he's innocent, doc................I'm just saying that he has yet to be convicted, and, therefore, must receive the benefit of any doubt, at the moment..........
Joeluke:

Who, exactly, is it who gets to decide the criteria for being a 'real man'?

While we're at it, what are the other critieria of 'manliness'?
"Golly, is it really such a big deal ? "

Evidently so. I don't get it either.
Other criteria ?

Tall

Big shoulders

No earrings

Other criteria of manliness?

Drinking beer, liking women, not wearing flip flops or sandals

Oh. and not being a gay sympathiser too
Jayne, that's a decription of half the really butch wimmin in any gay bay in the uk you forgot the tattoos and inability to use any deodorant
Drinking beer - check
liking women - check
not wearing flip flops or sandals - check

Oh. and not being a gay sympathiser too - damn ! damn ! damn !
Looking at some of the posts here, it would appear that ignorance really IS bliss!
Exactly JTH

3 out of 4 so you qualify!
Good point rowan, some butch lesbians are more manly than some of the gay men!
So I do !!
It just serves to illustrate how fragile your notion of manliness *really* is..........:o)
Joe:

I really doubt that you're serious, but if you are then really there's nothing to say to you. But I can assure you that if you approach your average guy with a stance like that then he'll assume you're kidding, but if you're not then he'll likely think you extremely childish.
Er no. I was congratulating you on your real man status!
I'm just saying that he has yet to be convicted, and, therefore, must receive the benefit of any doubt, at the moment

That's a great outlook to have jack.
I drink in gay bars quite a lot ... I don't have big shoulders.

(nb. We only drink in them ... we don't "pick up" LOL)
Is it just me or does anybody else think there may be a bit of "overcompensation" going on in some of these posts?
incidentally, I fail on all 4 criteria...

Joe's made a lady of me.
Krom......I think you'll find that your average man is prevented by political over correctness from giving his true views

Poll every man in this country while he is wired up to a lie detector and I guarantee you that a very high majority would be repulsed by the thought of 2 men together
