i think make up without detriment to animals by testing or production, is a fine thing to invent and market.

good on her.
Nobody will see it though once she puts her Burka on .........
Yes she is making the makeup without using pig or alcohol products which are forbidden. Personally I reckon she will be very rich if this takes off which I think it will.
It's a good idea, but surely there are already vegetarian and vegan make-up ranges and those that aren't tested on animals such as the products approved by BUAV - British Union Against Vivisection.
Niche in the market. She will surely make a mint from it.

/// “I wasn’t comfortable praying with make-up on not knowing what was in there,” she said. “When I researched what was in make-up I found there were a lot of animal products. I was shocked to find some even contained pig placenta.///

This woman is 41 at what age did she first start using make-up? Took her long enough to find out, and she has come to no harm yet.
A lot of people start to reassess in middle age the things they have thus far taken for granted.

What is in this stuff?
How is it made?
Where is it made?
How is it tested?

Essentially, am I using products that confirm with my values and beliefs or conflict with them?

This lady has taken the brilliant next step of recognising that there is a market of like-minded people she could sell a new type of product to.
.
Damn and double damn - i've missed another chance of making my fortune .

What a decidely simple busines idea - why has no one thought of it before
BertiWooster expect to see her soon on Dragons Den being ripped to pieces or securing a deal.
Religion really is silly.
Having said that, wont the big cosmetics companies bring out their own ranges ?

She should still fill her boots though .
smart thinking by her; good luck to her. Berti, my guess is that she hasn't yet thought of marketing pork-free moustache wax, so if you get in quickly...
jno - how is about us , going in on that one together ?
New UK Law

All burkas and Niqabs have to be made from pork fat.

Is this the solution we have been waiting for?

# Both Muslims and Jews consider the pig to be repellent. Why? #

They didn't know anything about bacteria but they did know that dirty food made you ill therefore when they saw swine wallowing in mud they assumed eating the meat would also make you ill. They also knew that pork doesn't last long in those high temperatures.

So the easiest thing to stop people eating the meat is to say God forbids it. Clerics have done this sort of thing for thousands of years in all religions. Anything they don't want you to do they just use God. It also gives the clerics more power.
1400 years ago there was no refrigeration and food went off quickly. Pork goes off particularly quickly. One theory is that both Jews and Muslims felt pork to be dodgy in terms of freshness etc., so not eating it was a sensible step. It's the same with alcohol - the hadith says that Mohammed was fed up with people coming to prayer drunk, so he suggested that less drink was advisable, and eventually it was decided that no drink at all was the best way of staying in charge of your faculties.
I think this woman will do well. Lots of makeup is alcohol-based, particularly perfumes and after-shaves. If she can crack that market, she'll be well away. Good for her.
She`s only following the ethics of Beauty without Cruelty and Body Shop (althought body shop sold out to Unilvever who test on animals)
