what a shocking and disgusting sight!
We knew we were in for cuts by this Government but to see students lighting fires outside Tory HQ and smashing the windows of Millbank Towers in London is, quite frankly, sickening, it's like looking at mob rule, what they expect to achieve by their thug-like actions, I don't know!

There is absolutely no need for that kind of behaviour and the perpetrators should have the book thrown at them. Watching it on the news just shows the ignorance of the troublemakers, they really think that kind of behaviour is going to do them any favours!
I think the kind of education a lot of them need is definitely not the university kind! I wish they'd get in and round up the troublemakers and deal with them accordingly, name them, shame them and make them clear up and pay for the damage they have caused just for starters. I certainly wouldn't be happy paying my taxes for the likes of them (the actual troublemakers) to have the priviledge of a university education.
I worked hard and made sacrifices and worked my arse off in all kinds of jobs to keep me going through mine. I'm appalled at what I'm seeing on the news.

she gets paid by???
I haven't a clue ummmm but she wasn't a student or a lecturer, she had a very plummy voice and was happily saying she thought violence was the right thing to do because this Government isn't listening!!!!
She says she does this full time too, probably over the Chanel in France I think

I, too, travelled to the bright-lights of London to take part in a demonstration, or two, when I was a student (it was early to mid 1980's, so take your pick as to the 'gripe-du-jour')........I was as passionate about....erm..whatever it was as these students are today. I and my friends would no more have thought about rioting, however, than flying to the moon.......

Nothing to do with tuition fees, an excuse for the extremists to be out on the streets, glad they have so much free time.
Where were they when top up fees etc were brought in?
Where was the tear gas?
Part of the graduate unemployment problem stems from the fact that so many degrees are Mickey Mouse, I don't want to employ someone who has spent three years studying many of the soft degrees and now expects to be welcomed with open arms.

Good for you Jackthehat, there's a lot to be said about standing for what you believe in especially when many others hide in the shadows and feign ignorance though it seems that this particular demonstration was hijacked by violent rebels, rioters and anti-police which mars any future demonstrations for the peaceful demonstrators.

i say the people of britain should raise up and fight the changes that the current 'regime' are inflicting on the working people of this country. people may have whinged about labour, but at least they had some loyalty to the working population...now you have the tory perspective, those who are going to truly pay are the sick, disabled, working people who they just don't care about. honestly - asking a student to pay up to £9k a year for universty...do people really want to turn this state into america? the next step will be no benefits at all and no free healthcare - and those are being eroded already. i think people who have no problem with the proposed changes are those who have the money to not give a sh!t about the rest of us...x
anarchy all the way!!! they are clearly not going to listen to anything else, are they? their minds made up, little consultation and rhetoric...what a basis for life-changing government policies. i seem to remember that when they tories were in power last time there were a few riots...must be some kind of a hint as to what people think of them. I HATE THE TORIES!!! X
