I was at a club of 100 members and one of the questions we had in a quiz was:
Whose word you could most/least trust amongst the English, the Scots, the Irish, and the Welsh.

We had a fair sprinkling of them all in the audience but probably more were English so it was a bit biased however the results were interesting, especially afterwards when people gave their reasons.

The quiz was to find out who you would rely on the most, or the least , if you had to choose one of the above to work with or do any business with or vote for .
Originally there were about 20 nationallities to choose from but that had been whittled down to the 4 main ones that everyone would have had dealings with.

still a bizarre question. Distrusting anyone on the basis of nationality is going to be a waste of time.
Totally impossible to answer accurately without knowing the individuals concerned.

Whoever posted the question should be shot - whatever his nationality!
what sort of quiz was that ?!?
I would trust, and mistrust, them equally ...
A BNP quiz?
what sort of club was that then modeller?
Someone's nationality has no bearing whatsoever on whether or not they are trustworthy.

sandy // I wouldn't trust the LIB Dems, either.// // A BNP quiz? //
// It tells us the Tories are thieves to to some degree or the other //

And you are not biased in any way ? What a paragon you are ? Or just naive .

I have found differences in trustworthiness between different nationalities all over the world.
What an extraordinary question! There's good and bad in all sorts!

// There's good and bad in all sort// That's not the point . Ask any businessman who in the UK he prefers to do business with and why ? I found one group who drove a hard bargain but once they had done so you could rely on their word . That was not the case elsewhere.

daffy // Someone's nationality has no bearing whatsoever on whether or not they are trustworthy. // So when you go to a car boot sale you trust all nationalities equally do you ?
I bet they love you.
You seem to have some sort of sub-text going on in this thread modeller...........you may be better off if you just came right out and said whatever it is we are missing........
I don't think we are missing anything...we are just gobsmacked by the audacity of this question....
I suppose British businessmen know where they stand with the Saudi royal family. They tell you the size of the bribe, and if you want the deal you pay it.
They might even let the PM's son, Mark, act as an agent so he can get his snout in the trough.

Oh ! sandy do I detect some racism and political bias there. or is it hypocrisy ? .
Modeller, I don't go to car boot sales as I am housebound. If I did still go to them I would use my own judgement as to whether the stall holders were to be trusted, their nationality would have no bearing on it at all.
Telesales companies know a lot about people's assumptions about people's accents.

Scottish accents are generally trusted as are Yorkshire ones (presumably except by people in Lancashire :c) )

Wales does OK too.

London, and Liverpool both do badly
Members of which races have cheated you at car boot sales, Modeller? I think we should be told.
Hypocrites believe one thing and say another. I think I'm fairly constant in my opinions and prejudices.
What a strange quiz that must have been. Care to enlighten us as to the name or type of club you attend?

Nothing strange about hearing peoples experiences about doing business in different parts of the world. For that matter our experience in every day life with colleagues is bound to affect our judgement.
jno //Distrusting anyone on the basis of nationality is going to be a waste of time. //
Really! Who would you trust to handle your money a Nigerian or a Swiss ?
It may go against your political egalitarian views but some groups can not be trusted. It may be a cultural thing but that is irrelevant its a fact of life.
