Should experts who claim a link between paedophilia and homosexuality be surprised when Our government decide not to use them?

Incidentally - can someone explain why this man's Christianity is an issue? Are his views a reflection of his religious beliefs? Is paedophilia even mentioned in the Bible?

Seems to me that he is to be 'punished' for daring to have an opinion, that goes against what we are told to believe.

Being a Doctor, who I imagine has more knowledge on these matters that most ABers, why shouldn't he have an opinion, and whose to say the rest are right but he is wrong in this case?

I know it may not be poplar to link paedophilia and homosexuality these days but first lets us go back only 30 to 40 years.

I can never remember the word paedophilia mentioned, yes there were homosexuals, but most under-aged sex was committed against young boys by men.

These men were mostly choir masters, school teaches and scout masters, now taking into consideration the fact that these adult men were having sex with young boys, surely there is a link between paedophilia and homosexuality?

Doesn't one have to be homosexual to want to have sex with their own sex?

I haven´t seen the original paper, but he was a co-author and from what I have heard this paper only "suggested" a link between paedophilia and homosexuality.

I agree, he has the advantage of seeing and understanding clinical and sociological trials which may or may not be relevant or conclusive. There is plenty of anecdotal evidence from no medical personnel, but these do not necessarily establish a connection. No, one doesnt have to be a doctor to analyse these studies, but it does help.

paedophillia is more to do with power and having control over a person etc rather than actually wanted to rape/have sex with young people. its the same as rape in adults
