Can someone PLEASE explain what in God's name is happening here:

http://www.dailymail....remists-face-EDL.html

I thought the accepted line was that Muslim extremists get away with saying and doing anything they like, but if the rest of us did the same, we'd end up in court.

So why on earth have these men been charged?

Is this some big mistake?

Should there be an enquiry?

Or is this further evidence that the 'one rule for them, another for us' argument is...

...poppycock?

(Did you see what I did there?)

"British soldiers, rapists".........where's the evidence?

Only the most ignorant LIAR could say so of teenagers who died fighting for our liberty in the last war, and are commemorated on Poppy Day.
It's simple in my eyes, there men were protesting about the war, well Remembrance day isn't a celebration of going to war it's to remember the dead in any war. So it goes to show the ignorance of these men as they have no idea of the true meaning of the day and maybe should swat up on British history and culture!
Think there's a misunderstanding here Jake. SP asked...

Does it matter what what was said and who was offended? And I replied yes, it matters. These people, and I use that term very loosely are the scum of the earth as far as im concerned. It's just a pity that only 2 of them were arrested. The galling thing is I bet they used legal aid, from a society they detest so much, too.

Do you also agree that Christians who support the death penalty for gays should similarly be arrested?

I'm talking about someone like Stephen Green from Christian Voice.
Yes.

The reason I make that comparison, is because I find that as offensive as the burning of poppies, but as this chap is a Christian - it seems that we should all turn a blind eye.

And that's not exactly what I'd call 'a level playing field'.
Im not arguing with you SP, I agree. However as with AOG (God! agreeing with him twice in two days- not good!) I'm disapointed and disgusted that only 2 were arrested.

I would also be interested to know whether they did use legal aid to try and fight their cases too. Seems pretty hypocritical if they did, no?
I think you'll find that what they detest so much is the 100,000 civillians killed in Iraq with not so much as a by you leave.

If we're talking about one rule for mulsims and one for us - let's talk about missile attacks on restaurants.

Dozens of civillians killed no military target and it happened before the main attacks.

Best the CIA could come up with was "We thought Saddam Hussein was there".

Any investigation? anyone held to account?

No of course not no westerner's killed

Then there are other incidents

For example

Do you seriously not understand why they feel this way?

Try! - understanding isn't weakness - it isn't agreeing with them - it's the first step to healing the rift

Do you really wonder why they

But here's the thing - perhaps there's a good reason why only two were arrested. Let's say the police have filmed evidence of those two actually making threatening statements, but you couldn't make out other individuals because so many were shouting at the same time.

It makes more sense for the police to charge those whom they know the CPS will follow up on.

The worse case scenario is to bring prosecutions which fail. That would send out a message that you really CAN get away with these extremist kinds of protests.
No, and frankly, i don't care Jake.

I'm sorry, but I find your sympathy for them abohrrant, I cannot agree with your line of thinking.

There is a symmetry there at least because I find your closed mind quite abhorrant too.

Did you even bother to click on the link? Or think about it or are you so certain of your own point of view that you need not consider any other facts?
No and yes Jake, sorry.

Her?

I've no argument with Jake, HE has his point of view, I have mine, they just happen to be different.

Jake, im with BOO on this, if they arent happy here and dont agree with our laws and cultures they can all go home (and I will never see this Country as their home) as for that link, it actually says nothing apart from the horrors of war, we dont know anything about the facts of that picture. Their insults on our dead soldiers is disgusting, they should be put in a locked room with the mothers fathers of these injured and dead soldiers!!

They can stick their right to free speech right up their muslim a$$es!!!!!!
-- answer removed --
*They* have their right to free speech.
*I* have my right to be offended by it.

Their grievances may be legitimate (to some degree) but the manner in which they demonstrate those grievances must be lawful..........and it is now under consideration as to whether they have over-stepped the mark as to what can be considered to be a 'lawful' protest.
YES the was in Iraq is devastating to it's civilians, I don't think anyone is arguing that point. But why is it that these men want to live here in a country that they hate so much? I would never live anywhere I didn't want to!

They can't have it both ways either........... hate us but................. benefit from us??? Double standards I say!
