The worst phrase/saying?

I think it's got to be "I love x more than life itself". I always cringe when I hear this, who actually loves life itself? What a load of old tripe.

To deviate slightly, I worked with a bloke who mixed metaphors such as :-
I'll have you upstairs like a ton of bricks.
This a double-barrelled sword.
It's dog eat dog and vice versa.

I hate when the Government make up a new word and think it sounds cool, like when the London riots were in full swing they started using the word "Criminality"... What's wrong with good old fashioned "criminal behaviour"?
