Which modern phrases annoy you the most. I personally can't stand it when people say "simples" like that meerkat advert a few years back or "end of" when discussing something... I know its petty but what annoys you?

gotten is just older English, which the Americans kept while the British became lazy. The British still say forgotten, however, just to be inconsistent.

my boss has a thing of asking ''are you all o-fay with that'' its not a speach impediment, its not so annoying but i really wanna ask why he says it. oh and i knew an old man who instead of saying the f word he would say 'bucking' which i found highly ammusing

I also hate "simples" and find the advert almost as annoying as "go compare".
"End of" is a phrase which afaic is a favourite of dictatorial bullies.
Here are a couple more from me:
"so" as in "That is SO not good" "Oh (pause) my god", "parenting".

Gingerflaps - just fyi the expression your boss uses is "au fait", it means 'fully informed' and is in fairly common usage.

People tend to forget that 'bad' is not just an adjective but also a noun and that, consequently, there is nothing actually wrong with putting 'my' in front of it.
Someone might say, "The good I have done in my life may be remembered and I hope my bad will be forgotten."
Surely that is all the current Americanism means...ie "It was my mistake."

Does it annoy any of you when people say "Get a life" as that is what I am saying to some of you now? I have seen all of your postings and none of them annoy me at all. Some of us have got thick skins, you know.
