Postmodernism

The phrase postmodernism really annoys me for reasons that are probably obvious. Does anyone else have any similar bugbears?

This answer is really a question (figures I'm American).  What is 'bugbears'?  Must be an English slang term, perhaps meaning an idiosyncrasy (quirk or peculiarity)
