when a customer asks me if the weather's going to be nice, i say something like - as long as you dont sing - which brings a look of confusion from some people - is it a welsh thing or a local ceredigion thing that we connect bad weather to someone singing badly?

never heard that one. Maybe it's just your street?
Here in Cumbria if a tourist asks ---- Whats the weather going to do . We say ..Look at the hill tops ... if you can't see them its raining.....if you can see them its going to rain.

We're never wrong

Not sure if it is only a Welsh thing, as I live in Shropshire, and we have that here too. If it is raining we say "Have you been singing again"? and I am sure I have heard that before I came to Shropshire. I think it is a well known thing, not just in Wales.

If it is raining we say 'Have you been singing again!.
