Great fun. Not overly complex clues, so grid (sort of) filled quite quickly. PDM for endgame likewise followed apace, and then needed some careful thought to justify all ten modifications, producing series of happy smiles from me. Many thanks, Nudd.

I didn't post last week as I was on holiday in Turkey, but did get it printed off at an internet cafe and my friend and I worked on it by the pool. It gave both of us death wishes on occasions, but I managed to finish it off by building a construction of sugar lumps. It gave us quite a buzz when it actually worked out. Great BBQ on beach today - it feels as if the holiday continues.
No, that wasn't it. It was the answer combined with the reference to Ronnie Scott's that I was thinking of. Funnily enough there was a reference to Ronnie Scott's in a Spectator clue on 17th May, but it led to a different answer. Maybe it's just my depleted neurones.
Meanwhile I haven't just got 10 or 11 answers giving instructions in Nudd's offering, I've got 17. I'm happy with 8 of them but not sure which of the other 9 to apply to my remaining 2 answers (3 & 36dn)

All done, just about. A charming puzzle, I think - by no means too easy to moan about. I'm very much of the view that too much is made of the relative difficulty of Listeners, I don't think they should be defined by their hardness. I want to compare this to a Listener from last year, but fear that the comparison would give too much away - I hope that comment doesn't frustrate anyone too much! Clue of the puzzle goes to 43 for me. Thank you Nudd!
Thanks contendo, contact me if you'd like a hint for those last two ([email protected])
Well I enjoyed that one, so thanks Nudd. I didn't really think any of the remaining possible instructions were unambiguous enough to deter anyone for too long, but they were superficially convincing enough to provide a distraction. The clues were all fair (although I do wonder if the 19ac is normally applied to the said outfit - wikipedia is not conclusive on the subject). And I'm not sure why word_cross thinks one answer might be questionable - surely anything in the BRB is fair game...?
Took me a while to get to this (away for the weekend). Started nicely enough but then hit a brick wall for a while. Understanding dawned. Have now finally finished the awkward (for me) NE corner. Embarrassingly slow to work out the final modification, but got there at last.
Thanks to Nudd for an enjoyable puzzle of good difficulty. A nice idea, well executed.
