Not quite rising to the EV level of difficulty, but the EV gremlins were apparently at work on the enumeration at 28d.
Yes, this was really fun from start to finish! A lovely one for newcomers. Thanks, Jago.
Very Jolly ... just nicely filled the gap between a lunchtime pint (or two) and an evening repeat :+)
Looks like some very fast finishing today. I coulda been a contender, but got called out (twice) by my neighbour.
While easy enough (and it got easier as it went on) I thought this was a proper Listener with some skilful work around the double squares. And the wordsearch was not too taxing, either.
I agree with dr b on the numeration for 28d - can't be right in the circumstances. There was a similar mishap in the TLS today, but that's less uncommon.
Thanks to Jago.
28d has now been corrected on the website. It is of course three letters.

And with most of the family away I'm well on my way to my first ever Friday finish:). What an I going to do for the rest of the week now?
All over in a flash. Nice idea but the cluing wasn't up to Listener standard. Also the two-letter cells became predictable too early.
One of my rare entries into the Friday club. Thanks Jago! Favourite clue was 1d. Have a good (very) long weekend everyone - although typically for a bank holiday I see the forecast for these parts (SW London) is rainy :-(
Archie Leach, there are some great crosswords in this month's Magpie and the Crossword Club magazine has a couple of stunners too. (Well it was time for a Magpie plug wasn't it?)
A walk in the park which now leaves the weekend clear.

I might go for a walk in the park.
Must admit I was hoping for a bit of a challenge this week, so will have to find something else to do over the weekend. Clues were fun, just really obvious, as were the layout of the diagonals and the overall theme. No more than mildly diverting, I'm afraid. Hoping that Azed has risen to the occasion...
Put me in the 'disappointed' corner. The clues were not much of a challenge, and two apes in one puzzle is one too many. I suppose we all knew what we were expecting, so there were no real surprises. I'll just have to find something else to fill the extra-long and possibly extra-wet weekend.
Yes, even I had this done by six o'clock. Fun, but definitely very easy. Quite convenient for me as I am off to the hills for four days early Monday and hadn't too much time available.
Yes, very straightforward and all finished in record time. Good fun though. 1d wins the corniest clue award....
There will definitely be plenty of other good things to keep us entertained over the next 4 days - not least this month's Azed Competition Puzzle on Sunday. Have a wonderfully jubilant weekend folks, and many congratulations Ma'am !!
Can only echo all the above comments - even I'm making my Friday Club debut this week. Entirely predictable, very easy with too many clues of a particular type - but I still enjoyed it nonetheless. And now a free weekend.
Yes RR, another plug for Magpie, and time the Crossword Club got a mention too - link as below, but note that the quoted fees are out of date. Since latest Royal Mail price hike, membership has increased to £25 inland, £30 Europe, £35 elsewhere.

Yes definitely a puzzle to attract the newcomers, but nevertheless neat idea and well put together. Thanks jago, lots of time to enjoy the long weekend now.
Yes, nice and straightforward, and certainly leaves me some time for the Magpies this month which are in need of plenty of brain juice. Have a great long weekend all.
Very straightforward, done on coldish balcony overlooking St Andrews Bay with no helps at all. That said, neatly constructed and enjoyable, so thanks must go to Jago. Now, what's going to win the Derby?
Yes, I also had it done by 6.00pm, but forgot to post comment here. Shucks. I'm pleased that the error at 28d has now been corrected. Unlike ArchieLeach I've plenty to do for the rest of the week, so am happy this wasn't too onerous.
