I bought the Times today because I saw the jumbo crossword being referred to, this morning, on AB.

I have not tried a Times cryptic before and am finding it quite difficult. I have searched for other questions on here but there don't seem to be any apart from one asking about the easier, non cryptic clues.

Is it a lot easier than I think, as no one has asked for any help or am I being really thick today?
So far, in the last half hour I've managed to do three.

i could give you the filled-in grid, Tilly2, if you're getting a bit bored with posting questions one at a time
I always look through for a few obvious anagram type clues to start me off

Thank you for the offer, bibblebub. I am managing to do some myself. I generally do the Guardian Prize crossword on Saturday. This is my first attempt at The Times.

So far, I have done 15 out of 109! I will persevere.

Am I boring you by asking for help one clue at a time?
not at all, carry on

Two this time.
Mechanic from country, say, with a thousand in cash (6,6)
G????? M?????

Do you understand flier, say, being circulated? (3,2) Get it?
39a) GREASE MONKEY
sounds like 'Greece' + thousand = K inside cash = MONEY

57a) yes, GET IT
flier = TIT, say = E.G., and 'being circulated' means reversed both those

Thanks again. That's enough for today.
