My last one and I just can't get it.
10 A. Grub up - German dish (4) rou?
All I can see is 'roux', which is a sauce, I think, but it just doesn't seem right.
The preamble says 'wordplay in the majority of clues yields an extra letter' - I don't know if this clue is involved.
Thanks, 'rout' seemed to fit the 'grub up' bit, though I was still puzzled by the 'German dish'. I've just looked up 'grout' (G/erman+rout) and discovered that it can mean 'to root or grub with the snout'. Even though I haven't worked out where 'dish' comes in, I'm happy. Thanks again.
I think the 'one going down' must be the right one because of its proximity to the other word - and wonder if the shape they make together means 'right'?
