As usual I've filled it all answers in (except two) I've got all of the thematic answers, except one which dosen't make sense! But the quotation is elluding me!
I've looked in the Oxford Book of quotations but nothing is jumping out.
Also what does 'exemplified in the thematic answers' mean?
I'm definitely getting old as I used to be able to do the Inquisitor crosswords without much trouble.
Any hints appreciated
Thanks

I'm still stuck!
I can't seem to find any quotation that fits the words I've got from the wordplay.
At the moment I can't 'exist peacefully'!
KeithSolver I'm assuming you were alluding to Dorothy L Sayers
I must be getting the wrong end of the stick
It may be too modern for ODQ, Ripper. You may not be able to "exist peacefully", but have you tried to "coexist peacefully" on google?

Thanks Turnerjmw
You're like my "knight in shining armour"!
I'll see if I can solve it now!
You're most welcome. Come back if you're still floundering
I thought I'd more or less cracked this puzzle. I've found most of the clued answers and my spare letters make the quote minus the bit I expected to be missing. I'm now getting thrown by the thematic answers. The first one I found was what I expected, but then I made another one "GELID". Am I going wrong somewhere? I could be jumping to conclusions again! Advice please!
Indy-trier, there's a two letter word in gelid that means one of the examples, along with all of the other thematics. There are a few answers that I am unsure of as to their clueing, but the main one is 2d -- is the answer aphis or aphid ? Silly Henry gets promoted - it's bad for plant (5)
Ulysses100:
2dn:Aphis
Silly = ApisH - with 'H'enry promoted
Thank you ulysses100! Your confirmation gave me the boost I needed to sort out the twist in the way those tricky thematics were phrased. Have now completed this puzzle and can relax!!
Thanks MLN:RUGBY : it's so easy when it's pointed out to you !
