Good evening members new and old, once more I am left in the lurch - I mean in charge as the Aristo's have toddled off to see some prestingdig... er pestergating er Magic Show.
The Aga has been well used today and arrayed on the long buffet table in the short gallery are amongst other things, a beautiful Roast Gammon joint (do carve as you require), some tasty Tandoori Chicken skewers with a Raita dip. All the usual nibbles and Tailcocks are there also.
This week's guest tipple is 'Magic Wand!' a truly amazing concoction and perfect accompaniment to the Gammon.
For the raffle I have;
2 cards of Kirby grips
6 Playing cards (all jokers)
Half a jar of Branston pickle
A dozen Liquorice teabags.
So welcome all, settle in and chat.

they say the great AB contributors
are not made, they're born
but this Internet lawn
where great shyte-stirrers have played
was not born but made
and this website wasn't laid
it's alive
and it's grown
it's scarified back
to its basal node
then this site's oversown
then it's rolled and it's hewn
and it's hewn and it's rolled
and it's sewn
and it's thrown
and it's not left alone
not this AB internet "lawn"
you'll never see mamya grasses, ttfn tufts, alex tussocks, crafty clumps
you won't ever see the most minimal tony humps
it's smooth Ed, it's matt, and it's ever so flat
(you won't see another internet lawn more livelier than that)
it's way beyond tidy - it's practically AOGeeD
and the height of each thread will not ever exceed
the eight millimetres of discretion that Eddie' decreed
did ever an internet lawn get such care and attention?
any troll turning up would lose one whole dimension
banned to the shame of suspension
was ever an internet lawn quite so nurtured and humoured
and hoovered it's rumoured - it's true I can prove it
three suspensions, four recommendations, it's the way we all do it
and even when the weather's fine
the Jogger Jayne is on the line
to tell the Mods who tend the text grass
each tremor of the AB bars
each incremental NoM change
the short-term stoke maveric odds of sun and rain
did ever any Internet lawn receive
such close attention to its needs
bespoke mixes of truth and weeds
- of Alexander and Quassia-
the sheer unlikelihood of pixi seeds
it's coddled and cosseted, sampled and sounded
just to be buffeted, trampled and pounded
it's so pampered and sprinkled and tampered and tinkered with
under Ed surveillance and AB user protected
characters ritually counted, imbalance corrected
monitored, measured, nourished and cherished
analysed, sanitised, criticised, squirtilised
scrutinised, and fungicidally sprayed...
and all for the sake of a good debate being played
no, this site is not laid
and it's not born
it's made
by every ABer, axe and spade.

Good evening & sorry I'm late, mamya.
Had a bit of trouble getting those things m'lady wanted, but I see she's gone with not a word! Oh well, I'd better leave them with you - eye of newt, toe of frog, wool of bat and tongue of dog. Don't know what she wanted them for, mind...
Sorry it's not much, but managed to rustle up a chocolate fireguard for the raffle...
Can I have an unfeasibly large one, please?

clearly my handwritten note sending my apologies for this evening failed to get delivered - very remiss of me not to have entrusted Harris with the errand, the understaff are not the qauality the family is used to. However, I can offer an expired M&S voucher for £5, a broken polo mallet and last year's Christmas edition of Horse and Hound. It is anticipated normal service will be resumed in time for next weeks festivities.
