I received the new Rainbow Quiz "Exercise the Extremities" yesterday. It's a wonderful, challenging one and in a very good cause. I noticed you recommended it in Chatterbank but I was surprised to see it's not in the Quiz List on this site.I just wondered if there was any reason perhaps for this.

Ah, Goofy. I now see you didn't have 84. Did the name clue help, if you hadn't found it in the meantime?
no and no!
O ring (nothing to do with plumbing)
Umm - not sure I really like that. There's also a Greta ring, but I don't like that either.
However, that's what I'll put (the O) until I can come up with something better.
Down to the last 3 (I think) - any clues on 79, 88 or 96? Saw the potential headset reference on the last, but hasn't got me there!
I still have 17 to go!
79 will put you on the back foot (with something you might put an O ring in).
Struggling with 88, my 96 works if the chaplain is a rector.

Goofy, subtract O form Garbo and find a synonym.
BIGJACK - "Just before fifty" is forty-nine. Use alternative word for one of the people mentioned in 49. Same word means "comfortable", or indeed "warm and snug"!! Hope this helps. (And thanks for your guidance re 84 - now finished and posted!!) Regards.
Gandolf-34 A short abbreviation of chaplain should start you off. Can anyone give me a hint for 40. I've racked my brains but am getting nowhere.
Gandolf-34 I meant to say for 96.I don't think 'rector' comes into it.
Closing date 30th November...
Well said, Lie-In King! I thought we had an agreement on both forums not to start revealing so much so long before the closing date? Seems people are ignoring that completely here & elsewhere, much to the detriment,I suspect, of the charity involved. Or are there other opinions? I've learned to restrain myself!btw I realize we've been through all this before more than once. Just a wee reminder!
P potter look up a not very well known poem by a famous english poet with an equally famous wife. you'll find the answer in there.
Maurice I think you were one of the first to ask for clues to 40
Sorrreeeeee.
Got carried away, at relieving frustration, and then trying to repay a good turn.
Thank you Martysgirl. I don't think I'd ever have got there without help. I love working out the answers myself but there's a limit to how long you can try without feeling really frustrated.
@ Martysgirl: that's exactly why I have come to realize it's not wise in the long run: if you remember, the answer was soon found, but not in front of thousands of possible other competitors; and at that point I couldn't imagine a veritable flood of requests plus answers would follow so quickly. We really might as well publish the whole damn thing now, what with the other answers already given -- and still being given -- on the other forum, too! Don't you think that in this case at least things have gone much too far? It's not a sign of weakness, afterf all, to modify your opinion!
Actually, between us we have only discussed 8 questions (coincidentally the number I still have to work out).
Admirable restraint, I'd say.
Then there must be something wrong with one of our counting systems! I was referring to both forums together; maybe that's half the answer. The only statistical mistake I can discover is the figure of 91 days I mentioned on the other channel, I think: should read 71 (to go) of course. But that was a genuine "tippo".
Anyway glad to hear of the new spirit of RESTRAINT! Don't want this disagreement to go on for ever: the arguments are naturally innumerable. And anyone who can't bear the suffering any longer can now consult a RELATIVELY long list of answers at that OTHER PLACE. OK ???
maurice and all others involved in this discussion/argument. I agree that it is ridiculous what has happened on the other site, someone has published the whole quiz with every answer he has got. That is a real shame although I don't think it affects the amount of money raised - surely people will still send at least £5 when they post if off? If not I'm losing my faith in human nature. I have asked for a couple of hints, and still have seventeen to solve; they are probably some of the most obvious to other people but not to me! It is such a great quiz, even though it keeps me awake at night and I then curse it. I worry that the compilers will give up on it but don't think they will as long as the money keeps pouring in for all the wonderfully deserving charities they select.
What other place are we talking about here?
