I received the new Rainbow Quiz "Exercise the Extremities" yesterday. It's a wonderful, challenging one and in a very good cause. I noticed you recommended it in Chatterbank but I was surprised to see it's not in the Quiz List on this site.I just wondered if there was any reason perhaps for this.
Even though that silly person has done that on the other site I still have seventeen to solve and always try every other way before looking for HINTS on here. Reference library visits become a regular part of my week, take a sandwich and a bottle of water with me, deep sighs when I am unsuccessful and whispered Yes!! when I find what I'm looking for. Will have to look there if I don't solve any of these over the weekend. At least the chats between us on here are friendly....reading all that stuff last night made me feel quite nervous, didn't like it at all.
Goofy Number 20 or 20 in total? We're about the same as each other then and no matter what hints are given I'm still struggling with Garbo and the chaplain. Sounds like a very tack book title!!
I've been taking a bit of a break, but still missing 32, 50, 52, 53, 63, 72, 79, 84, 87, 93, 95 and 96.
However I'm not too worried as there is still 2 months left.
Goofy Think I can help with some of those although I expect you've got some already. 32 First rate is A1...think of 2 letter scrabble word that looks like that...then a 3 letter word for what you come up with. 50 Anagram of 1st 3 words makes a film star, then google her movies....52 an anagram of search then think about what it might mean for policemen 53 anagram of 2nd 3rd and 5th words 63 think about what trawlermen do to catch the fish...there is a Spanish connection 72 anagram of police + L for trainee + last word of cadets 79 first syllable part of a shoe 2nd syllable something you turn on to get water out 84 I found very tricky but when I got it I realised it was so obvious First word a synonym for garb then think about what O often means in crosswords...2nd word is the obvious piece of jewellery 87 Wiki or google a word for walking on toes..took me some time to find it, right at the bottom of the list I finally looked at 93 think of a joint of the finger and also concentrate on other meanings of a bit blue 95I found this easier than some, think of the shape of a snowshoe, what it resembles and go on from there 96 bothered me for quite a while till inspiration dawned abbreviation of chaplain + word for always then add 2 letters. Hope some of that makes sense.
