Saturday Night and the doors of Nungate Towers are again opened in welcome to all Mad over fifties. For your delectation tonight's Hot Plate special comes by way of a special request, Minty just for you we have a delicious Toad in the hole (real toads of course) with onion gravy and on the pudding trolley we have apple dumplings and custard. We also have a fine selection of volly vonts and canopies. Our tailcock tonight is the Dragon's Breath, a spicy liitle number, and yes there is more than a hint of chilli! The Minstrels are already in the gallery, tuning up, in addition to their usual selection of madrigals and toccattas, they have decided to give us a selection of music from the Oscars - not too sure what they have in store for us but it could be worth a listen. Sadly the bungee is out of commission this evening, the new elastics haven't arrived in time to be fitted, but all being well it shall be restored to us next time. However, the hot tub is all fired up and the mini bar is well stocked up there on the North Tower, and I've opened up the games room, where we have all sorts of games and amusements on offer from snakes and ladders, to our billiards table, and the ten pin bowling alley has been set up down in the cellars - please take care not to upset Sir Cumference if you are playing down there, for a castle ghost he's very shy and easily upset. I regreet to say that Queenofmean will not be in attendance this evening owing to a prior engagement but I'm sure we will do our best not to miss her too much.
A warm welcome is assured for all who dare enter these portals

I'm a bit bothered about the Dragon's Breath so could you just magic me up a lager and lime, please? I have a terrible thirst.
DT - please keep well away from me. I've still not recovered from my bout of illness and, in my vulnerable state, I have no wish to pick up anything else.
In view of this, I shall not be submitting my operating theatre mask for the roffle but am wearing it instead
Therefore my roffle prizes consist of
Half a lemon yoghurt
Several well squeezed lemon halves
A nearly empty bag of Jakemans
A compass with the "N" missing
A remote control from the tele that was thrown out about 2 years ago
Several balls of fluff and assorted coins

One Lager and Lime coming up Mammar - the Tapster will be delighted to mix you anything you happen to fancy!

All those lemons - I could use one to make madeleines...
well I am in a transparent suit, daisy as I am rampant with cold or something and running a nice temp - feeling better than at 2-30 this afternoon though.

Just in case you haven't heard of them
thank you, mammar, I haven't......

What a pair! Shall I have best beloved rustle up his famous hot toddy? He used to make it up for me when I was ill but since I loathe whisky he's given up trying to get me to drink it. I'll stick with the echinacea, zinc and vitamin c
they work for me!
I've had an ultra hot Szechuan chilli dish to get the pores opened, perhaps a scotch or two later, purely medicinal mind you.
Try them, DT. I've sent their shares rocketing over the last three weeks. The original throat and chest ones are my favourite. I have to send regular supplies to my ex pat daughter in Hong Kong as she misses them, not cos she's ill!
Question Author
of course Dt, purely medicinal......
Not many little birds here, 1/4 mile from the sea. Seagulls frighten them off.
Ihave 1st floor flat so have feeing station attached to living room window and another to bedroom window.
That toddy sounds wonderful. I'll take you up on that.
Hope you win the last few Jakemans in the roffle then, DT
In the meantime, a bowl of the custard sounds nice and soothing.

Generous glug of Famous Grouse (he doesn't put the really good stuff in a toddy) add hot water and sugar and drink......yet somehow it never tastes the same when I make it or a least that's what my mum says, she prefers him to make her a hot toddy when she needs one
I used to be HK based for a while, mammar....
Well, what a small world. Her contract finishes in July then she's off globe trotting. What it is to be young and free . . .
Question Author
Shame about the wee birds Daisy, there are dozens of them (mainly finches) in my garden every day, and 3 woodpigeons Our cats sit by the window watching them, it's like a bird watching convention! Max on the floor and Henry on top of the tall scartching post, and Lou or Molly sitting on the stool -I seem to have a group of feline twitchers!
Why do we no longer exist? Quite liked my avatar.
whenI grew up they (the cats) were also fish watchers too.
Must be because DTC said he was wearing a transparent suit.
Checked other threads, they have avatar pictures.

Strangely they hardly bothered about Gonzales when he was here - Queenie named her goldfish Gonzales because he was always zooming around his tank
The cats seldom looked near his tank I really think they prefer the bird watching
