Welcome to Nungate Towers and the meeting of AB's Mad Over Fifties Club.
Tonight our Tailcock will be the "Nippy Sweetie" an inspiring little brew guaranteed to warm the cockles on this nippy evening. The Towers kitchens have been busy and have rustled up a fine selection of volley vonts, canopies and horses doovers. Our Hot Plate Special tonight is a Steak and mushroom pie so full to the brim with deliciousness that the gravy has to be served separately as there isn't mushroom left for it! All served with veggies from the Towers estate. On the pudding trolley we have toffee apple sponge pudding with custard or whipped cream.
The Minstrels are back in the Gallery warming up, later we shall be regaled with their usual madrigals and fugues, and later on they have threatened to give us their interpretation of the greatest hits of Kiss! oh dear
Meanwhile down in the Ballroom, we have Bert Gonzalez and his band of Loco Banditos with their crazy Latin rhythms for some energetic salsa and samba music for members who wish to give their maracas a good old shake!
As always, the hot tub will be bubbling away on the north Tower, (mini bar has been restocked) The bungee is all set for a good old bounce! The indoor pool has been warmed up (cossies are available) Sir Cumference has returned to his dungeon so please try not to make too much noise to disturb him.
For the rofl tonight I have to offer
Broken lute strings (a donation from the Minstrels)
Tin of armour polish
used corn plaster (thank you Nanny)

Lost and Found
A set of fangs were found in one of the guest suites. Would the owner like to collect them from Belle (if she is not in the vestibule, she can be found in the Ladies Retiring room)

A warm welcome awaits all who dare enter these portals this evening

carriages at midnight.

I seem to have a vague recollection of something known as a cuddle.
Eggs?
nungate, I have two daughters so I know what your talking about. Mrs av sometimes has to remind me to say the right thing at the right time also.
(((((((((((()))))))))))))) for queenie and Daisy.
I'm still gutted I never got to wear the blue one :(

Aww thank you Tony :)
Oooh, thanks Tony.
Igor, stick? No, you are too elegant. You must have a walking cane. Silver topped ebony for preference. Will balance out your light chains.
Question Author
Have you finished the book yet Daisy? I will confess to putting everything aside to finish a book!

Tony that book about the Titanic is to do with the quality of the steel used in the building of the ship. Too much carbon I think it was in the steel, though it was the best available at the time, the cold water temperatures made it so brittle that it couldn't withstand the impact. Interesting theory, though. There is another regarding the air temperature causing a mirage which hid the iceberg from the lookouts as it "raised the horizon" or some such, it was a very interesting documentary. (she is a slowish reader)
How's Bow?
Oh, I thought this stick was quite elegant, nice piece of carved walnut with an ivory (pre 1947 of course) handle. Though I shall bow to your opinion and set out to acquire such a one as you suggest
Ah yes nungate, to much carbon in the steel would make it brittle.
Bow seems to be doing fine thanks nungate, still a little dopey from all the anaesthetics sleeping quite a lot right now, stitches to come out next Saturday or Monday.
Ohhh, I like the sound of your present walking cane, Igor. If you get the cane that Daisy suggests could I purchase your original cane ?.
Question Author
That's good news then Tony, sleeping will do her good

I might borrow that book myself I'll certainly have it finished before she gets through her Stuart McBrides!
It's a family heirloom I'm afraid Tony Sir, came down from my great, great great grandfather, so I couldn't possibly part with it
Ah right, I see Igor. T'is a wonderful family heirloom.
Not yet nungate. Made the stupid decision to defrost the fridge freezer yesterday. Took forever.
In any case had just started the one before (last read 2 years ago) as they follow on and had forgotten bits.
Question Author
I see Daisy. If only we lived closer I could have popped down with my Polti
steam cleaner, I use it when I defrost my freezer, goes through ice like a hot knife through butter and it sterilises at the same time. All you need are some towels to catch the ice and water coming from the freezer. Best beloved always helps with the defrost though, and I've started sending either him or queenie(sometimes both) out there once a month to take a note of everything out there so that I have an up to date record and nothing gets missed or forgotten.
Sounds great nungate.
Could not even find my hairdryer to use. Last used on my hair some months ago.
Question Author
I had to get a new one of those, I blew up the last one! I have also blown up a computer (twice) an mp3 player, set fire to the microwave and only the other day I set fire to my sandwiches (no I am not a smoker) I may have missed my vocation, I should have had a career in demolition!
Is Mr nungate a fireman ? lol.

Mrs av uses an hairdryer to defrost the freezer also.
Electric blanket gone kaput!
Another Nippy Sweetie please.
Does that mean a fast member of the opposite sex or a glacier mint?
Question Author
No. a former banker (a nice one!)
Now Tony get out there and get Mrs Tony a polti, for defrosting a freezer there is nothing to compare they are the best! And as a general cleaner they can just about do anything (except take the dog for a walk)
Ok Ok, don't start, I'll look into it.
