This is a Mensa Logic type question.

A sign tells you that BRUSSELS is 66 miles, VIENNA is 69 miles, STOCKHOLM is 79 miles and BUCHAREST is 96 miles. Using this logic how far is it to COPENHAGEN.
Does anyone have a clue on how to approach this please.

Ignore that sum, it should be Vienna is 66+7 or 73.
Because the difference between Brussels (66) and Vienna (69) is 3 -this is the start of the pattern -we do not know what the pattern was before BRUSSELS (66). The pattern is on the DIFFERENCE between the numbers + 7 , not the numbers + 7

That's brilliant retrochic.Thanks.
I agree. I would never have figured that out. Well done.
I like the logic, Retrochic, but how do we know Copenhagen is next in the sequence- maybe it comes before Brussels?
Remember this?

Factor-Fiction -Good point! Hopefully the right answer will eventually be published.
Yes, factor-fiction. If Retrochic's solution is right then the way question is posed is at best inelegant. You would have thought that the notion of sequence should be clearly implied, say by presenting it like this:

Brussels 66
Vienna 69
...
Copenhagen ?
Maybe I'm just being picky because I'm disappointed I didn't spot the sequence as I was focusing too much on patterns involving vowels/consonants and double letters
That is genius Retrochic & BA. I was trawling thru rock festival years and roman numerals. Just proves how illogical Mensa are.

Retrochic, todays collussus ;)
I agree Retro's spotted pattern is very good. The solution doesn't sit that well with me either though as there is nothing to say those distances are sequential on the sign. I'm guessing it's a Mensa type puzzle and not one actually set by Mensa who would be totally precise in their questioning and solution IMO.
People with nose out of joint because they fell for the distraction :-)

Well done Retro, although it has ensured I can't spend ages failing to find the solution !
It needed a totally illogical renegade mind , one that very rarely does puzzles lol! I hope its right ! Just one thought -the question gives a list of cities then numbers and instructs 'using this logic' to solve the puzzle, so I would presume that the sequence of cities and numbers were consecutive.
