Oh this is so frustrating! Are we looking too deeply - are the answers there but more simple than we are making them ?

Oh lawdy lawdy, Maisie Doats and Davemano, we sure seem to have stirred up a can of worms!! Very rarely can I help others because usually on the ones that I know, then others seem to answer before I get a chance. Thank you for that clue with 'old nick', I will have a search around. I had noticed that some of the people who are usually very vocal, have now gone very quiet for some reason?!?
Sorry Leecon, every evening I'm just going over and over the same pages. I either get a suitable first part and no second or vice versa. I think I shall start a new thread, there maybe someone out there who hasn't been following our posts. I hate sending in a quiz without a reasonable answer (even if it's wrong) but as you say it soon needs to be posted.
Leecon - this is what it does to you ! I counted it twice and got 8. But you're right it is 9. Perhaps we are looking to deeply. What on earth can the easy answer be then?
Davemano - it is either a birth name or former name. The rules seem flexible because one answer to another question was 'the incredible hulk' / David Banner. David Banner wasn't his birth name but a fictitious former name. No wonder we're confused - well, some of us anyway.

Davemano - the clue was 'had a mind so brilliant it cannot be measured on any known intelligence test' (3,10,4 / 5,6). There are others too such as Darth Vader / Anakin Skywalker. See what we're up against ? However, it still is a really good quiz - no fun if it's too easy but being do-able would help. :)
leecon - a pity this was not made known earlier, it would have made things a bit easier, and it does cater for the answers like David Banner and Anakin Skywalker.
Though it does go contrary to your post 01.31 3.11.15
For anyone not having the quiz, the above rules under the main heading are a quite ambiguous.
Anyhow we'll keep trying.

Yes Davemano, it does seem a bit ambiguous but looking at the clues and answers that I have so far, it seems that if a person is real, he/she seems to have a former or birth name. If the answer is fictitious, then they seem to have a fictitious former/ birth name ie. david banner and The Incredible Hulk? My head is now spinning over these two clues - I can't believe that someone who has found the answer, can't help or guide us along the right lines?
Yes, but now the rules say birth OR former name . The Incredible Hulk former name was David Banner, but that was not his name. But as you say, the former name is allowed.
When I first looked at this quiz I thought the answers were something on the lines of Michael Caine who was Maurice Micklewhite - but it is a bit deeper than that.
