Just to let anybody know, if they've not already checked .. the March generalist has been available on-line since last evening. I have made a good start but stuck on two at present, will continue to try to dig-out these two answers, but not getting close to them at present and may need to look for assistance in due course! ;0)

Hi Steff .. will be only too pleased to help out .. will see you later ;0)

thanks sarumite, of course I didn't say am or pm so we could keep on missing each other !!

I've got the first word of 6d but not sure about the second and could you explain 27d - I know what a puffin is and I know where it is but I don't think that's what it means so any help would be much appreciated Steff
Question Author
Hi Steff, 6d was also a problem for me, but we eventually sorted it . . the second word is Nod (and it's not very friendly!).

27d is a local name on the Shetland and Orkney Isles for the Puffin. Quite happy to oblige bif you can't find it!

good luck(S)

thanks, I got the general idea that 6d wasn't friendly.

I'm off to have my dinner now - can't upset the chef !! will think about that puffin while eating and get back a bit later.

ok , got him - why do the Scots have to have another word for everything ??? I need an English/Scottish dictionary.

The only one left is 7a, which is probably dead simple, but I can't think and google doesn't want to help, so when you drop by next, a clue or the answer, I don't mind which, would be great thanks so much, Steff
hi seekerz

here is a reference for 7a)

thanks lector, I'll go and peruse !!

look at -

2nd paragraph lines 11 and 12

well that didn't take long and I must admit didn't surprise me, thought it would be something unusual - trust the Court system to come up with something odd.

that's me finished for this month - now what am I going to do with myself - I need another puzzle.

thank you both for the assistance, I'll see you over the weekend bye, Steff
a weird name - yes see you marshalling the link words over the weekend!!
Question Author
Steff, What's happening .. I go away for half an hour and get gazumped ! I see that you're now finished, and like me, out of a decent puzzle to work on.
Never mind it'll soon be the World Cup in the West Indies .. and I promise you that I'm not gloating over recent results (as much as I'd like to!) .. reckon Oz are still favourites to win, although it would be good for the game if the Windies could win on home territory!
Cheers (S) ☺☺
never mind sarumite ......

so few questions to answer, you can't take a 5 minute break, even!

:-)
Before everybody disappears, can anyone help with my last one, 15a 'Environmentalist's protest shelter'. (7)?

T - I - L - O

Many thanks

Hi Otleyboard 15a is "Twigloo" (apparently a combination of Twig and Igloo) with nothing to do with lavatories!

Question Author
Hi Jools . . I've just logged on again, that was good timing!
The answer to 14a is the name of Great Britain in George Orwell's futuristic novel Nineteen Eighty-Four (1984).

If you can't find it please let me know. (S)
