As ever, I've got a couple ( well, five ) to finish in this laboratory medicine based crossword.

Help with this one clue may get me on my way again.

Factor in faecal movement when a joint-university involvement's held up (8)

?L?U????

I thought joint may be KNEE or ANKLE with U for university and RE - for involvement. But Im drawing a blank in finding any anagrams.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have a great holiday, Joanna !

When you're back, check out the Lab News site for a nice surprise !
What a team hey?
You wll probably get phonecalls from them now asking all sorts of questions about budgets and the type of processes your lab does. They ring me about once every two months and I blag my way through......God knows how!
Have you started this months yet? We are so short staffed at the moment I never have time to do it at work anymore. Four people have left in the last month and we're weeks behind with the work, but hey! crossword prizes are a lot more important don't you think?
Fingers crossed for this month, still no MLW though.

Hi Joanna, I've had a few days off as well, so I've only just picked up the Lab News today ( still no MLW ), I'll probably post it, although I think the posties are still on strike here in Liverpool, and it's got to be in by Friday, hasn't it ?

Hopefully they'll extend the deadline. I've put my home phone number for the Lab News, so if they ring me during the day, there'll be no one there.

If you need any help with this month's ( I'm sure you won't ) leave me a note.

Eddie

Hi Eddie,
I have only one left on the Lab news, but I think I may have gone wrong somewhere. I've left it at work so I don't know the exact words or number. It's the one about the dance music with a thump on each beat?
I've got D?S?E , let me know what you think. If you need any that I may have got right let me know.

Eddie

Got to give the rest a chance, I suppose.
I told you I'd left mine at work and I've been off sick since Tuesday so mine won't get faxed through now........so good luck to you.
Joanna.
PS What did I get wrong then in the answer I thought began with E?
Question Author
Hi Joanna, hope you're well soon.

You should have had

O-I-T

from

Disco, Uralite and Weather Symbol

We''ll regroup our forces next month and try to bag the lot ! Even my limerick was no good this month !

Eddie
Hi Eddie,
Yes we will do that, should be a force to be reckoned with!
I'm sure we will clean up.
You could win with the limerick even if it's a bit lame, have you seen some of the previous winners?
Speak to you soon

Hi Joanna, hope you're well.

I thought I might have been booted off the Lab News mailing list, but it finally arrived today.

If you'd like to discuss any clues, I'm still about ( occasionally )

I'm just trying to come up with a funny caption for the competition that's replaced the Limerick !

Ed
Hi Eddie,
Got our Lab news a while ago, as usual I've left it at work. Done most of it so I will bring it home tomorrow and we can collaborate. Did you ever get the MLW, we didn't. I'm definitely off the list!
Joanna
Question Author
Nope, no MLW, but I think I've got a good caption for the caption competition !

Ed
Heres my answers Eddie.
across: momentum, fedora, micron, peroxide, phosgene, drop, belljar, incisor, stagger, addenda, pier, loop line, multiply, titbit, red mud, audience.
down: obit, earth, tungstate, moppet, force, dexdrine, radiosonde, centrifuge, logarithm, nodulated, coryza, lipid, nitre, zinc.

Not so sure on the loop line one but I've faxed it now. Good luck to you.
Joanna
Make that dexedrine!
Question Author
Looks good to me, Joanna.

I've gone for loop line too

Good Luck Ed
You too Eddie, what caption did you do?
Mine was: Contaminated water? My a**e
Joanna
Well done Eddie, you won the caption 50!

Hi Joanna

Thanks, I've just checked it out ! I thought they might think the caption was offensive, and not pick it, but luckily I was okay.

I got this month's today. If you haven't got it yet, the caption contest is Santa on a jet-ski, I'm not coming up with any good ideas yet!

I haven't got many other crosswords on the go at the moment, so I'll probably start on the Lab News one tonight.

Speak to you soon Ed.
Got our lab news yesterday and I've done some but not all. We have our accreditation today and tomorrow so none done at work!
I haven't come up with a santa caption yet but I'm working on it.
Incidently I think my caption was more offensive don't you? I had better tone it down this month.
Joanna
Yeah ! and I thought mine was bad !

If I come up with a good caption - you can have it if you like, they'd never pick the same person twice, I don't think.

.............Umm, not that I'm coming up with any ideas yet.

I've done the crossword, the only ones I struggled with were 2 down, which I'm sure I've got, but don't understand the clue fully, and 24 down which is a mountain in Wales.

Good luck with the Accreditation ! Eddie

Oops ! I've just given away my new identity ! D'oh !
