24 Answers
This is the first week in the reign of the crown Jools and I can now reveal that our bejooled new setter chose the following links.
left BEHIND
DIVINE right
forward THINKING
back STREET
Were you caught on the back foot? Were you left wanting? Or were you on the right track and did all your forward planning pay off?
Fast forward now to the results below: >>

No best answer has yet been selected by gen2. Once a best answer has been selected, it will be shown here.
For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.A lot of scope for all those links meant that this was a low scoring round - or was it just because you were not yet attuned to Jools's way of thinking? With so much to choose from, it wasn't surprising that the hits didn't come as fast as usual but nevertheless, all went within 18 minutes.
First to fall was at 9:05 (post #10) when Alibobs, obviously wearing her thinking cap, gained 2 points for FORWARD THINKING and within the allotted 2 minutes were rogerr and FoxLee also gaining 2 points. sarumite tested the rules at this point by opting to go with 'forward thinkER' and I have exercised my casting vote to allow him 2 points with the proviso that should it come to a tie-break situation at the end of the month, he would lose to an opponent with an exact match.
At 9:12 merched arrived via the BACK STREET to gain 2 points. Three minutes later, Pebbles, not wanting to be LEFT BEHIND picked up her two points. The last link went at 9:18 when wickedtongue claimed a DIVINE RIGHT to the final 2 points.
Surprisingly, there was only one entrant who managed two hits (with LEFT BEHIND and FORWARD THINKING) and so I therefore declare bangor "Hot Shot of the Week"
Three cheers for bangor on what has proved to be a very difficult week.

Jules001, JMR27, burgess, patchett, Mr Ont-ice, AllyLally and Elspeth
A warm welcome to a newcomer to this quiz Murielmci (and I think fordward is new too?) - I hope you found it fun. Newcomers and non-scorers alike - keep this in mind: "It can only get better" so until the same time and same place next week, this is your stand-in scorer, gen2, anticipating better things to come and signing off for this week.
HAPPY LINKING EVERYONE

Thanks gen2 for your acceptance of my variation on a theme ... I don't expect to be at the head of the field at end of September, so unlikely to require tie-break ruling .... or there again perhaps I'll leave recent form behind and stay up with the leaders!! OK .. true ... that's unlikely!!
Well done Bangor for Hot shot award .. thanks Crown Jools for the links ... and last but not least thanks for keeping things ticking over gen2, in the absence of the mighty Krophta!! :o)

Country-boy It goes like this - Sat. 9.00 am 4 Words are posted, then anyone who wants to, tries to guess what words will be liked to them. 2 points are awarded to the first person to post the correct link word - If someone else posts the correct link word after this but within 2 mins of the 1st one they also get 2 points. After that you get 1 point. Then Sun at 7.00pm. The results are posted. I hope that explains what is going on. If you have any more questions please ask and I or some else will try to answer.
Hi country_boy,
A summary of the scoring follows:
For each matching link you gain 1 point
There are bonus points available for:
'Original Thinkers' - the first person to select a correct link gets a bonus of 1 point
'Full house' anyone matching all four links also gets a bonus point
Tolerance:
Because there is a delay between clicking on 'Post an Answer' and the actual post appearing on screen, the definition of 'Original Thinker' is extended to include anyone who posts within 2 minutes of the first 'Original Thinker' (The 'Two Minute Rule').
Copycats:
Anyone posting a matching link more than 2 minutes after the first poster to match that link will not qualify for a bonus.
If more than two posters select a full house of 4 correct links, then the later poster will forfeit the points for their lowest scoring link.
That just about covers the point scoring rules. The only topic I haven't covered is what happens at the end of a month if there is a tie on points. Fortunately, my stint as stand-in scorer is only for 3 weekends and that task will fall upon crofter who will resume scoring for the last two weeks of the month.
