Araucaria?

A few days ago, an ABer referred to Araucaria as "no longer with us", or words to that effect. Has he died then, or merely retired from setting crosswords? I don't take the Guardian every day, so may have missed something.

Hi amalgam - I, too, saw that post and wondered about it then. I do take the Guardian every day, and have seen no mention of his passing. Without doubt they would print a full obituary as befits his many years of brain-teasing service. I sincerely hope he is still with us.
