Good Evening AB Linkers, everywhere and welcome to "The Perils of Poor Pauline"! Let me explain.
Last month, there was an epic struggle between Alibobs & AllyLally which resulted in a last-minute victory for ex-champion Alibobs who graciously stood down in favour of first-time winner AllyLally. I therefore embarked on an AllyLally Hunt, however all was in vain as (through nobody's fault) my attempts to make contact were fruitless. It can take about four emails to "train up" a new champion to meet the MM standard (there are tricks of the trade which are divulged only to the select few)!
The clock was ticking and I became desperate. I mean really desperate! With only two days ago I needed a back-up plan. I had to have someone who knew ropes, who can take the pressure and yet would be a worthy Links Setter. I began thinking the unthinkable! Pauline Ward had held court in my absence, she had an excellent score last month (and missed out on bonus points by only one minute to take her to even greater heights) and I had been saved from the rhymes of "Lady Limerick". She would do a great job!
Evening all ... I've finally made it back into the shrubbery ... it does seem that this place is far less profligate than when I last visited.
I guess my fellow partner in crime (Strix) has been able to exercise a certain amount of control with the behaviour of the shrubbery paramours!!?
And don'y worry about my trip to the alien North next week Strix ... I have a cunning plan!!! ☺
Strix, I may be a bit older than Pauline but I can "jitterbug" (more like jiving) with the best of them!!!!
Pauline hasn't told you I have got to leave on Saturday night as on Sunday morning I am doing the Cancer research "Race for Life" run in Sutton Park so I am quite fit really!!!!!!!
Pauline will have to bring my beatles CD collection to educate you!!!! Actually we used to have all the Beatles LPs and they were played a lot so I know most of them, in fact I knew the words to both of them. It's really uncanny how Strix can pick these songs i know!!!!
Sarumite I hope you are prepared for next Friday.......It could be a big shock to meet me in person and I will have to read your comments to Strix and everyone in the Shrubbery next week...........
sarumite, I am sure you are fine up-standing chap but these shrubbery paramours are the Sirens of the Syringa, the Lorelei of the Lilacs, they are attempting to lure you to fate much better than death!
