Good evening players

The enigmatic figure of Sir Sarumite had you all wildly guessing once again this week as he opened up the scope with a multitude of possibilities.

Were you in the ballpark? Did you even come within a mile? To find out you will first need to know what Sir Sarumite chose for his links. I can now reveal that his target links were:

BOTTLED water
electric SHOCK
MUSTARD gas (is he of that vintage?)
tax HAVEN

So who were the winners? Read on.

Only one of the links fell during the immediate rush following the opening of the gates. At 9:02, wickedtongue showed he was still on form and added a further 2 points to his already impressive collection by matching MUSTARD GAS

It was another half hour before kettledrum, possibly remembering a painful experience, matched ELECTRIC SHOCK for 2 points.

At 10:12, evsajo found TAX HAVEN and picked up her 2 points (inc. VAT).

We had to wait until just before noon for the last link of BOTTLED WATER to be discovered by patchett - also for 2 points.

AND THAT WAS IT!!!!!
No more matches, no multiple hitters - not even a near miss! So tell me, were you all pigging out on the glut of points available in recent weeks? I can picture (watercolour) you all sitting on a waterproof rug beside the sea (salt water) and sharing a picnic of watercress and watermelon salad.
Total hits made = 4
Total points awarded = 8

Now we come to awarding the
***HOT SHOT OF THE WEEK***
I think that all four of the scorers deserve the award for achieving the near impossible task of matching one of Sir Sarumite's fiendish links.

I therefore declare wickedtongue, kettledrum, evsajo and patchett</b all to be
***HOT SHOTS OF THE WEEK***
Question Author
The monthly totals (with one week still to go) are therefore virtually unchanged and as follows.

FORTEEN POINTS: wickedtongue
EIGHT: Genmus
SIX POINTS: beejay1124
FIVE POINTS: x-ray
FOUR: Christiana, Dinkypuzzled, Dustybun, gen2, lysander, paulineward, slaney, evsajo, kettledrum & patchett
THREE POINTS: Aquagility, Shazza, cliffyg, Jools, keyboardix, teacher1 & Diane1954

I think wickedtongue must be all but unassailable with that lead but the improbable could always happen - it all depends on what Sir Sarumite has up his sleeve for us next week.

This is gen2 signing off and handing back the almost unused abacus to crofterfor the last week of August.
See you next week: Same time Same place

As crofter always says, "Until then: HAPPY LINKING!"

Well Zero for both Jim and I. :-(((

Are we early this week Gen2 I thought it was 7pm finish??
Well done all!!!....except me!!...Kay a hot shot!!!....blimey!

Are we an hour early gen2???....or have I missed something?

I thought it was me Pauline - I must admit I don't know if I'm on my head or my heels sometimes at the moment. :-))
I know the feeling Jools....and we are both low scorers on this too!! :-((
I blame Sarumite!!
Well ofcourse Pauline it's got to be sarumites fault - He's a man it's always their fault. :-)))
Hang on, this could be a scam! We may get a whole new set of link words at 7.00

Or maybe not.
Pauline, I think gen2 wants an early night (might have been the juice on Friday night!)

But you devious b**tard, Sir Sarumite of the Contrary, your links certainly had us all stumped.

BOTTLED water, who is so idiotic to pay for what you can free from a tap?
electric SHOCK, been messing with the fuses have you, or undergoing ECT?
MUSTARD gas, intestinal problems or memories of the Great War?
tax HAVEN, won the lottery have we?Will be the last Salisbury will see of you?

But Sir Sarumite, all credit to the yorker you bowled us!
Strix
Thanks to Sarumite and gen2,
Yet again I have not troubled the abacus. Roll on next week.
Well done to all the points scorers.
well done the point scorers (which misses me out)
I think Gen2 has put his clocks back a couple of months early he is on Scotish time!
Question Author
No, I'm on Central European Time Jan
I think he has gone into hiding as Pauline Jnr aka Laura is visiting Edinburgh...she got there at 4pm!!
She must have found him...and he's on the run!!!
She IS her Mother's daughter!!!

Either that or as Strix says...a MAJOR Hangover!!!
Thanks gen2 for looking after the scoreboard.

I did try to give you an easier ride in the absence of crofter, and almost totally succeeded!

See you all next week. (S) :O)

Sorry about the time, had to fit it in as best I could and the game was over anyway. I thought I'd put you out of your misery earlier rather than keep you waiting.

I'll give Sir S a good talking to before I hand him back to crofter and hopefully, there'll be the chance of some points for everyone next week.

Sorry I couldn.t conjure up some more of them for you this week, but the beads were staying obstinately stuck on the abacus.
Blinking Heck I'm a hot shot!!!!! Thanks S for your wonderful choice of words and Gen2 for scoring etc.
Congratulations to the 3 other hot shots
Love Kay
I have just arrived back at the Croft and found low-scoring week with multiple Hot Shots! Congratulations to all, but I shall only revert to a previous MM Champion if the "pretenders to the throne" are found wanting!

Please don't feel that it is a "done deal!" You must keep on trying.

My sincere thanks go to gen2</b. for allowing me some free time and to sarumite for allowing my abacus to cool down!

Take care of yourseves ~ and other MM Linkers!
