This following a thread regarding favourite cheeses and wondering why a tasteless lump of saturated fat is repeatedly pushed and endorsed by Tv celebrity chefs.

Parmesan, surely it's not included to fill people up with fat and quell their appetite?
Cut costs with no respect for clients health?
I disagree also, you must have had some very poor quality parmesan if you think it's tasteless.

One of the reasons chefs use parmesan is that it is an intense flavour and you can use less than you would a mature cheddar, making it a healthier choice overall.
Parmesan is great, you only need a little as it's strong tasting.
I disagree as well. Parmesan is lovely with pasta dishes. Its also nice with risotto rice.
when i was younger i sat down with my dad and sister to eat spaghetti bolognese. i shook the parmesan cheese container to sprinkle over my food and the lid fell off so i ended up with a mountain of cheese on my plate. My dad made me eat the whole lot and ive never eaten parmesan since

Apparently parmesan has of the same chemicals as vomit in it, hence the smell. (True!!).

I can't get past the smell to eat it!!

As for it being tastless - well is strong surely.

I wondered whether to post my view - that parmisan smells like baby's vomit - but since you have apved the way, I will happily add my agreement.
