....because we are already travelling through spacetime at the speed of light, there is only one speed in spacetime.

// As you speed up mass increases ... //This isn't true, although is a common misconception. To be more precise, your kinetic energy increases. Mass stays the same throughout. No doubt E= mc^2 tricks people into thinking that if mass goes up then energy does, but that equation only holds when you are at rest; otherwise, the equation readsE^2 - p^2c^2 = m^2...

naomi - // andy-hughes 13.56.  Would you mind if I recycle that the next time you introduce Enid Blyton and school marms into an unrelated topic?

Be my guest ... Miss!!! 😉

Thank you - and it's Mrs.

Not in my imagination it's not!!

Proof - if any were needed - that you are wrong sometimes.

Naomi - I am wrong lots of times, and I have no problem admitting it, unlike some ...

But on a more serious note, I do jokingly comment on some of your phraseology in your responses, but that is a world away from the constant endless pointless sniping I get from Roy on almost every thread he sees me posting on.

That's just pointless nasty malice, and unsurprisingly, I won't sit still for it.

If this was a high school debating session, you'd be the annoying wonk at the back shouting out pointless interuptions, because actually, you are not able to join in on the same level

Aye, despite you knowing next to nothing about the subject you have so massively contributed to...you have put clare and TTT firmly in their place.

I hope you haven't put them off trying their best in future debates.

Only in your limited imagination.

Both of them have argued their points extremely well, and I have acknowledged that.

// I hope you haven't put them off trying their best in future debates. //

Again, your imagination is at work, if you think two strong posters can be put off by a discussion.

I notice you don't diagree with my asssement of your 'contributions' - but they don't put anyone off either, they are not that important.

There's only you that thinks you have made a worthwile contribution to this thread. TBH I was a bit embarrassed for you.

I think this thread should be closed down - at the speed of light.

I was about to say that I'm intrigued that this is still going!

Well it's a full half hour argument.

No it's not

Yes it is

ZM:

// As you're here, would you like to clarify the gender pronoun 'thing' you mentioned? //

I'm afraid it's too far back to dig up easily, and I can't say I want to revisit the thread anyhow, but as far as I remember you were having a discussion with others about, among other things, what my preferred pronouns were, and suggested that said pronouns were "they/them". While I'm grateful that you care enough to try and get it correct, I'm "she/her".

Hope that tidies things up :)

Thanks. I got the impression it was you who wanted to tidy things up as you brought it up on an entirely unrelated thread.
For the record, I couldn't care less what you want to be referred to as and am happy to refer to you by whatever gender affirming or gender denying phrase you wish.
what I was and am still unhappy about is people saying that trying to omit terms such as 'mother' is wrong, and then trying to enforce something very similar on here.

Ultimately one can only say that the "speed of light" can not be reached by us massive individuals judging by the state of our present knowledge. But science is always getting scrutinised and updated so one can not be sure that what seems impossible today will not prove to be possible tomorrow.

'Beam me up Scottie'.

The problems of teleportation are rather different to time travel.

Cause...like if we did..We Would Never Know! no one can see you going faster than light, our eyes can't even detect the speed of light, and if your the one going..then its all just a blurr you see, smearing light, you'll arrive where you intended with no one, not even you knowing how you got there.
