Christmas Shopping

I have never been one to start shopping other than in November and early December. During the autumn I start to get ideas of what I might buy and write them down in a note book.

Part of the enjoyment is buying items as late as possible and this also allows for any changes in the recipient's circumstances. 'Tis just the same with writing cards. I make sure that parcles and cards are sent before the last posting date, especially those that take the Antipodean route.

The wrapping of presents and adding nice decorations, getting the fountain pen out to write and address the cards are the catalyst for me to get into the festive mood. It just wouldn't feel the same if I did it too much in advance.

Anyone feel the same as do I?

My aunt starts in the January sales and she's still going in December. It makes her happy.

I don't do any of it because I hate shopping, especially for more than one person, and it makes me miserable which in turn spoils it for others.

I will happily do the food but I always happily do the food all year round.

I used to cook for quite a few every year. My dad would bring anyone who had nowhere to go back to mine (people we knew) The day was fun, and I like visiting family, I just hate the build up, I feel for the parents under so much pressure.

I had to do it all early for financial reasons. It's nice to know it's out the way before it all gets hectic

Christmas has always been a relaxed affair in my family, of course it has changed as the children grew up and then the grandchildren came along.

No one is put under any pressure to do or be anything they don't want to.

I pick up bits and pieces through the year as I see them if they seem right for someone than add money for their savings.

I think you do what's right for you and yours.
