they can always go here (Greenwich Village in NYC) for their Marmite etc

Tea bags ,Marmite , marmalade , put them in the hold luggage you should not have a problem them as they will be screened . English newspapers always go down well and Cadburys chocolate is always a must have !! My friend has a sister in the USA and she loves Heinz salad cream , so she takes that over . Have a great holiday , put all the breakables in plastic bags and wrap them in the towels etc .
kebab and a chinese take away
Decent chocolate - cadbury's buttons etc. That's what my relatives in the US all hancker for. Oh, and proper pies or sausage rolls if you can get away with it.
We have friends who come over and go home with more Cadburys chocolate bars and kit kat bars than i buy in a year. They also take home HP sauce, meringues (from m & s) and tablet (we live in scotland).
M&S cardigans =p... never mind. Erm, Nutella? Do that have that?
Urm Cola cubes and worthers(?) toffee? I'm only guessing here. My auntie always wants english bacon for some reason.

oops-should have mentioned that the rellies are my yankie family..haha!...But still-there are some good ideas here. And as for your query,Leg_end-ALL of the British isles and their produce will be considered. Hmmm...except possibly jellied eels...lol. Maybe a kilt with my family name??? Shall certainly think about shortbread, Marmite and Devon fudge.
take a tin of haggis
I always take yorkshire teabags and crisps (kp skips and pringles) to my mates :o)
pork pie i soooooo missed that in the states

Gee-I think if I ever go back there to live I can set up shop catering to all the homesick Brits who miss their choccies, sausage rolls and,um-haggis. I would make a mint! Is there a recipe for deep fried Mars bars?
dip the mars bar in batter and deep fry it yuk!!!!!
If I had English relatives and they were coming to visit I would literally beg them to bring several packages of Fork Split English Muffins... I have to drive (living as I do in the western U.S.) over 100 miles to a store that carries them only to find out they are sold out... small thing I suppose, but that, and as suggested English Marmalade would endear them to me enough to not complain after 3 days of their presence... (By the way, what the heck is Marmite? I see it referenced on here quite often)...
Urg ,,,did I just hear that horrible salty Marmite mentioned ?
It's on my list of don't likes , as is Vegemite :-0 x

Lol!! don't worry ,Clanad--it has long been a mystery to me also and I have been living here over 18yrs! Apparently it is a bi-product of brewers yeast and yes it is salty as Bigmama said. Give me your address and I'll post you a jar when I get to NY-lol!---oh,and take a look at www.marmite.com............bl**dy h*ll-just realized I have been moved to SHOPPING!
Harrods sell typical English teas and biscuits at a reasonable price. Nottingham sells Nottingham lace tablecloths, etc. You can get teatowels and other typically-English items depicting scenes of interest from English Heritage or the National Trust. Most cities have an information centre that can provide details of where to obtain items from that particular area.

Thanks for the suggestions taperface-I live in a coastal city in the Southwest and I can certainly find enough tourist souveniers down here.
When we went to visit our American relatives 2 years ago we took, for my husbands sister, her husband and their 2 kids, 3 large boxes of chocolate bars, a bottle of malt whisky, a pair of shetland silver earings, a designer leather purse with a little scottie dog on it and a scotland rugby ball. All carefully considered gifts. They arrived to visit us last week and brought.........absolutely nothing! Whilst we don't actually need anything, a gesture would have been nice. e.g. a little something for my 2 little boys. They are not poor by the way, they are better off than we are. We are putting them up for two weeks and hosting a party for the entire family while they are here. So, I have changed my mind on what you should take, it must be the done thing to take nothing at all.
