What To Prepare For Lunch On A Date
66 Answers
Please don't judge me or ridicule me as I am genuinely seeking advice.
I am single as is the lady that I am going to be having a date with. This lady and I met at a party 15 years ago and had a "kiss and a cuddle", but that was all that happened.
Our paths occasionally crossed in the ensuing years, but neither of us were ever in a position to do anything about actually "being together".
I've "held a candle" for her for years(!) and was absolutely bowled over when she contacted me on Facebook recently. We've been exchanging a few texts, e-mails and phone calls and she now wants to come and see me on Tuesday (we both happen to be off work on that day).
Anyway, she has said that she wants to come to see me at home, but only on the proviso that I make her lunch - and no, that's not a sexual term! :)
The problem I have is that I don't know what she likes and, despite me asking her, she simply says "anything, I don't mind".
I want to make a good impression, so does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could cook/buy, etc?

A simple flower arrangement on the table, suggesting that you want to make an effort but it isnt too obvious.
Search her facebook for evidence of what she likes in terms of music/food/drink and this will also help you continue a conversation.
A first date at home can be strange, a neutral environment is usually best. A woman will probably make an immediate judgement on you, the way you dress and what your home is like. She is obviously nosy as to whether you are the same guy she remembers from the "fumble" way back when.
Good luck my man!

S G.....Are you sure that the lady said "Make me lunch".? Even ii she did, you could pretend if she said it on the telephone that you mis-heard it and thought she said "Take me to lunch". Then you can implement Tilly's suggestion and take your 'candle companion' to a Pub and have a choice of menu.

S G......I am Not doubting what the lady said. I was trying to be helpful and give you a way-out of preparing a meal. Unless you are accustomed to entertaining at home and providing meals, it's Not a task to be attempted as something to influence someone.
Incidentally, I cooked my wife a few meals before I married her; and I am now the family chef for all occasions....every day that is.
