Just out of interest, how is the police's reputation in Brazil? In an country as big as Brazil and so many people living below the poverty line, do they have a perfect reputation in terms of justice?

They certainly do not. Is your next question perchance going to make some comparisons between them and the noble British bobby? Because saying British police are no worse than Brazilian ones isn't exactly a ringing vote of confidence. Sorry if my crystal ball is malfunctioning here...
Try asking the street children - those who have not been murdered that is.
(often by policemen ! )
c. 1200 people are shot dead by the police in Brazil per year.

Is this one of bull dog's wind ups ?

The Braheelian police are not noble savages....The pro Hanging flogging branding daily, The Daily Telegraph had an pot-kettle-black article on their at-home activities. About one to two thousand deaths a year - not all indigenous unemployed electricians in heavy overcoats.

But eeff zay say - there is no cover up, we canbelieve that cant we ? After all they should know....

Braheelian? Sounds like a bit of a Spanish accent there and as they speak Portuguese in Brazil, it's pronounced wiv a "s" sound :) ... sorry... just being silly !!

Did anyone see the programme "Gangs" presented by Ross Kemp? When he went to Rio, the chief of police *admitted* on camera that, during the police/drug gang shootouts, innocent people will get shot!

I also believe that demands being made by the family are wrong - why should our chief of police be made to resign? My wife is from Brazil and we spent a couple of months there recently and compared to the previous visits, there were a lot more shootings this time! The people that I know there laugh when they see English police with their funny hats and truncheons, but I'd rather live in a place that doesn't *need* guns for everyday security!!!
