This became pretty much a meaningless question, once the now defunct Chatterbank was created, Undercovers! There, you would find people submitting dozens of responses in a day. Each of these, of course, was added to their total response count...but would you consider them to be answers? It made sense at one point, but no longer does, I'm afraid.

QM is correct, in my first id as dothawkes I had almost 1000 answers in my profile, then as djhawkes i had a few hundred, then as dotjhawkes there were a few hundred more, as mrspswayze i has several dozen too. Oh but u can't count the imposterer Dothawkes cos that was not me it was just a mischief maker, ihatenooman probably, as dot.hawkes i am at 700+. i have had to change user ids occasinally due to imposterers and temp. bans for posting too quickley.

My current answer-total is 6,654 only one of which appeared in Chatterbank. That happened solely because I clicked on the wrong heading by accident, found the first question on the page was one that should have been in Phrases & Sayings and answered it. When I looked at Question 2, I realised my ghastly mistake and betook myself out of there post haste!

Even before Chatterbank, anomalies arose as regards the number of 'answers' one had provided. I, for example, often get involved in providing several contributions to a single thread. Is each one an 'answer'? Bernardo, in his inimitably amusing way, often provides multiple replies to a single query. Once, for example...in response to the question "What are your pet hates?" he provided about 150 of them! Not in one long list, however, but as separate, individual hates. Did that amount to 150 answers or just one?

And so it goes on. Basically, Undercovers, I don't think it will ever be possible to find a definitive answer to your question.

i'm shocked and amazed, I thought I was quite a regular poster BUT alas it seems I am a mere amateur in comparison to most of you!

BOO i think you have been a member for approx a year that means an average of about 19 posts a day (do you find time for anything else??? ;) ... though you must be one of the most prolific posters I think we should all tip our hats to Quizmonster and the extraordinary services to AB� don�t think anyone will be able to top his contributions (or his distain his chatterbank!!!).

I've got something of a reputation for posting long-winded, multi-part answers . (Praised by a few, derided by others and probably totally ignored by most people). So, if I spread a 5000 character response over three posts ('cos AB has a 2000 character maximum), does that count as one reply or three?

I only posted one question (and fewer than half a dozen replies) in Chatterbank, so most of my posts have been within the 'serious' parts of AB but I've still got a long way to go to catch up with the might QuizMonster. (My sole excuse is that I only joined AB 7 months ago). My current figures are 6 questions (0 removed) and 2506 replies (0 removed).
