I was recently dragged along to a Steam ralley, which was nice, but I couldn't help noticing some people actually taking the time to video each steam engine at length, my question is do they actually watch it? and is that what a steamy video is.......I also noted most of these people wore socks and sandles.

Having talked to one of these there is apparently a big market over the internet for videos of steam engines esp. in the US
as Lennon said; 'Whatever gets you thru the night' and i guess it's better than bloodsports, drunkenness and child-porn. Still, basejumping probably not their bag eh?
It's not just steam engines. Enthusiasts, particularly on transport, are very much into their favourite machines, and as you don't often see a steam engine, or other rare vehicles, on the road, you video them instead. Or buy a model. I saw someone who had photographed every bus he'd seen for about 40 years and was selling them on a stall for 50p plus each. The stall was busy. When you see a scene 30 years or so later, you'd never have seen many of the features again without it, so there are plenty of reasons. (Yes I do collect pictures, by the way- cars, buses and railway stations).
