To the Scots here - whats your opinion on Donald Trump?

Just read some comments from Donald Trump to the effect that everyone in Scotland loves "Trump International Golf Links" up in Aberdeen. Is that the case? Are most people broadly supportive of his business plans in Scotland?

I may be shallow but the wig alone would put me off the guy. I have nothing against men who wish to wear wigs or who are bald. But to have as much money as him and still go for the cheap and tacky wig says much about him.

So far there's about 100 full time jobs be closer to 1000 if the hotel gets off the ground though he's fighting with wee Eck about an offshore windfarm close by. Local councillor who lives beside us says the costs to built the golf course was around 100 million including access roads and new junctions. The hotel and the housing will be the biggy, that $1bn investment will come to fruition just hasnt happened yet. Friends in Ellon have seen their house value rise by 25% and a lot of local companies have been involved in the construction. It will be good for the area but doesn't change the fact that the man is an ass!
@Slapshot Thanks for the info. I agree with your description of him, and it is interesting to hear of the changes that the development has had on the local economy.
I have read suggestions that the picture becomes much less clear when looking at the Profit and Loss balance sheet of the whole investment - complicated as it is by government subsidies, tax write-offs and all the other associated factors.
And I think you alluded to it in your last post- the original promise of inward investment was close to 1billion dollars, but to date the actual investment falls very far short of that... does that sound about right?

The London School of Economics guy on the documentary said that Trump would most likely employ eastern European workers who would probably send most of their money home. Result - few jobs for locals, and little money spent locally. In any case it's a few miles out of oil-rich Aberdeen, and who there is going to commute for what may be only low-paid hotel and catering jobs?
When this whole sorry saga started I said that the plum jobs would go to americans and the minimum wage earners likely to be eastern europeans because that is how the man operates in his own country. We shall also see which great golfing tournaments will be attracted to his golf course (which I have to say grudgingly is impressive). It's his arrogant stance regarding wind turbines which gets my goat now.........how dare he hold our government to ransom with the threats he's making to pull out of the rest of the project? Hope he does and bogs off out of here! The man is a total control freak. As to his barnet.........looks like roadkill to me.....some poor red squirrel perhaps.
