I am not clear what the link is between drinking a lot of tea and being evil and controlling.
When did America break away from England?
Yes, I learned that and I also learned that cowboys were the good guys and indians were the baddies. I saw the films.
And America won the second world war for us
1776, factor.
Assuming you're in the USA, when you broke away, England was so good that it wanted all its colonies to be the same. You preferred to go your own way, rather than be controlled from England/Britain.
And the US corrected all our misspellings such as colour, grey, travelled...

Wasn't there a tea party in Boston that caused a great deal of trouble? Drinking it might well be the root of all evil.
Yes, tristen, I know.

I drink lots of tea.
I'm British (English actually) and I can't stand tea.

yea the boston tea party we threw tea in the ocean as a part of rebellion
.....and weren't the Yankies good guys and the Confederates the bad guys? I saw that film too.

Except it didn't work in Shenandoah.
And is Sarah Palin running some kind of T party now? Will she throw tea into the sea, too?
Thanks Tilly- I thought they broke away from the British Empire rather than England, but I think for most Americans the UK, GB and England are synonymous. I heard some singer (Pharrell Williams?) recently announce he was going to play at a concert in Glasgow as he'd always wanted to play in England
