I can understand homosexuality, I can understand trans-gender, but I simply cannot understand why heterosexual men indulge in cross-dressing. Any thoughts that may enlighten me will be welcome.

And to post as Retrocop and Sqad just have is ignorant and does nothing to address Naomi's question and Jim's answers....and there lies the real problem.
Merely saying I wish I had the same waist band as my wife jeans. Lighten up lady. Nothing ignorant in that.
I was waiting for that Togo!
This could have been a really interesting and enlightening thread.....but sadly it's gone wrong.

And please don't call me lady....Gness will be fine.
All views are quite enlightening in a way. Sqad's were.....jawdropping...
Lol Ed. I did hold back until the thread had run a course though.
Prudie - //And this is exactly the problem, probably lots of others not so bold, including me, are not joining the thread because although we genuinely don't understand we are are cast out as being bigoted for admitting as such. //

Revelling in ignorance is not the same as being 'bold'.

If I see anyone castigating you, or anyone else, for admitting that you don't know enough to offer an informed opinion, I shall lead the charge in your defence.
I think we should all lighten up a bit here.

Transvestites cause no harm, as far as I can see. Like Naomi, I don't understand why they do it, but there are a lot of things I don't understand and I guess I can't expect to understand everything in life, can I ?
Exactly mikey, so just ask people who do know x
Jim, I always thought your avatar must be your wife, very attractive if you don't mind me saying ...
mikey // ...but there are a lot of things I don't understand and I guess I can't expect to understand everything in life, can I ? //

And nothing wrong with that mikey.

We all hold vast swathes of ignorance about the world around us, and that is part of the human condition.

It's speaking as though you do know about something, when your every utterance underlines the fact that you don't, that causes problems!
/// Sqad's were.....jawdropping... ///

Only if you don't know what he is like.
Cross-dressing is a harmless pursuit and fulfills some 'need' that the cross-dresser has....even though it may be difficult to articulate.

I find it more difficult to comprehend why so many straight/non-crossing men feel so threatened/discomfited by those who do.
I know what he's like :-)!
Jack...I don't feel threatened at all, just puzzled. Even when some crossdressers explain, I am none the wiser.
Hah, thanks viv! No I don't mind you saying at all. Better than when someone thought it was a picture of my mother, I suppose... :P
I think that for some men when they fantasise about a certain female that they fancy & they think ''I would love to get into her knickers '' their only way is to wear them. LOL.
I'm not sure anyone else shares that "lol", ron. Except Sqad, perhaps, up to you what you make of being in such company on this issue...
It's not so bad Jim...

I'm not quite sure ron's is in the same league, at least.
Hmmm, I wear my OHs jumpers & coats, even his denims need less alterations to fit me. His wellies slosh a bit but I can slip on his crocs to protect my toes being pecked by the rooster ;)
